Advice on potential job that I'm pursuing

So I applied for a job on indeed that I'm really interested in, mainly because it would be mostly remote and I can't stand going into the office. There were over 100 applicants according to indeed and I managed to land an interview that I think went really well.

So the day after the interview (about 2 weeks ago and change) I called the HR guy that set up the interview to see if he had any feedback and he said that it was positive feedback but they still have to do some other interviews per their requirements

Well Friday, I get a notification that they viewed my app again so at least I'm still in the running. Talked to the HR guy again today and he said they expect to make a decision by the end of the week. He gave me the hiring managers phone number and said feel free to call him (same guy I interviewed with)

TLDR I suppose my question is how would you approach such a conversation? I want them to know I'm interested but I don't want to waste this guy's time sounding like a moron on the phone

Sounds like they know, blowing them up like a teenage boy to his first crush ain't gonna help

Sounds like they have another candidate in mind to me and they are keeping you on the hook until the candidate formally accepts as a backup. Your call won’t make a difference either way.

It's possible

They said they intend to make a decision by the end of the week

Tell them you are a big Joe Biden supporter. That should help.

• Call (You've been invited!).
• Cite the HR invite (You've been invited!).
• Make the case that you'll outwork, outperform, and overachieve any candidates (your call pursuant to the interview being evidence)

Good Luck PM!

Call him. Some of the responses in this thread accepting defeat before it’s even final are sad.

Next time make it crystal clear in your final statement in the interview. Send a follow up email that reinforces your interest, strengths, eagerness to make a difference for the company of given the opportunity.

Then you don’t have to do that awkward follow up / potentially feeling like moron.

My 2 cents.

Good luck!

Don't quit your current job, you're going to need it. That's the way it sounds to me.

No need for conversation if you already articulated clearly your interest, qualifications, and eagerness.

Don’t the pester.

Unless you are not confident that you “already did this” well enough?

Text him your pronouns before the call.

Thanks

I don't get the negativity. It's not completely unreasonable but seems presumptuous

Probably because most people here are just pessimists

It takes a long time which is BS. Still waiting on my finalized offer and it’s been over a month since my last interview.

Just sit back and wait. It sucks but if they want you they will call you.
If you don’t hear from them within a week of when they said they would have an answer… move on.

If you’re semi-articulate, passionate about the opportunity and can sell yourself, then call. Determine what you’re going to say prior to the call so that you don’t fumble around and sound like a moron.

If not, then yeah, don’t call.

Yeah. I was trying to come up with an approach. That's why I came here.

I didn't call today but still may call tomorrow. I have a job so it's no sweat either say but it would be nice to have a more remote position.
