Sources indicate to WildcatAuthority that there will be significant discussions between the Big 12 and Pac-12 this week. It would include four Pac-12 members joining the Big 12.

Sources indicate to WildcatAuthority.com that there is a meeting between members of the Pac-12 and Big 12 that is scheduled for Tuesday. As of now, the meeting is to discuss Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, and Colorado joining the Big 12. It is not clear how far down the line the conversations currently are and this is not the first discussion, however, it has been stated that Tuesday is by far the biggest meeting of significance that has taken place.

does the big12 hit the trapdoor on byu, UCF, etc?

UCF, Houston and Cincy have to be kicking themselves right now. They finally get a seat at the table and it appears to be falling apart

What becomes of Oregon? Suddenly they're left in a conference of
Washington
Washington State
Oregon State
Cal
Stanford

Why would they? All the other conferences are going to 16.
There’s no reason to drop BYU, and the others are pretty reasonable growth plays. The only reason it took BYU this long to get into a major conference was politics.

I don’t think the B1G is done. I don’t think the Mountain time zone schools would be doing this unless they thought UW and Oregon were leaving.
Keep in mind, the networks drive this. Why would FOX not want Washington and Oregon?
I think Stanford gets a bone to persuade Notre Dame to get in there too.

They have Nike money and will use that to get into a better conference.

The Big 10 might as well just keep expanding to 40 teams and make 10 divisions of 4 teams.
Then the name actually makes sense again.

Everyone is talking about Oregon and Washington to the Big10 but not Stanford.
I still can't see Stanford getting left out...they're everything the Big10 covets. Prestige...and committed to a million fricking sports...and winning at them.
Cal is fricked.

I think Oregon and Washington to the B1G with ND and Stanford makes sense. Oregon State, Cal and Washington State belong in the Mountain West. Arizona, Arizona State, Utah and Colorado join the Big 12.
Then the SEC plucks the best four from the ACC.

I don't see this happening due to the ACC's GOR and the fact ESPN owns the two TV deals.
Only way it seems like it could happen is if ESPN/SEC convinces the 8 ACC schools that have the most appeal to them to vote out the GOR by majority to join the SEC. That would circumvent any ACC poaching by the B1G and lock in a super 24-team SEC.

What would prevent some of those teams from jumping to the B1G at that point?

It would because it would obviously be all negotiated together. Freedom from their terrible GOR and admission into the SEC with much more TV money in one fell swoop.
Plus it would keep a big core of the ACC together, just under a new SEC umbrella and likely in their own division. I can't imagine any ACC member north of Virginia would be in that number.

Either way, the ACC is the next conference to fall. Really because it's pretty much the last one. Gonna be some hurt feelings too because we're either gonna take 8 or we're gonna take 4. FSU,UNC,UVA hopefully and Clem,NCST,Duke,Miami,or VT have to fight it out if we only take 4.

I’ll be pretty shocked if any of the ACC football members get out soon. The B1G may not mind taking on the ACC’s lawyers, but they’ll be scared shitless of Mickey Mouse’s lawyers.
On the flip side, if Greg Sankey calls up ESPN and asks if they can restructure the deal for a Clemson addition to the SEC, that ESPN exec probably tells Greg to gfy.

The remains of the PAC-?? appear likely to invite schools out west that meet Tier 1 research standards to just make the best of it. That doesn't mean those schools will say yes. We're talking the likes of Utah State, Nevada, Hawaii and Colorado State. But would they be any better off financially than they are now in the Mountain West?

What I haven’t seen posted is that this is why they have a GOR, to keep teams from leaving in an environment like this
