A/C repair suggestions.

My daughter’s 2010 Ford Edge a/c will blow cold at first start up.
Once the engine is warm , the a/c no longer blows cold. The compressor engages and disengages constantly.
I tried to check the the Freon to see if I needed to add any but there is too much pressure in the low pressure port to connect the hose.
Any suggestions other than to just light the car on fire and start over?

Likely low on freon but you could also have a restriction in the line potentially affecting the evaporator.

Check to see if the electric fans are working...

Sounds like "someone" tried to charge it recently and went too far.
Bleed some off.

How is the engine temperature sensor?
I ask because I had a faulty one in my vehicle and the AC would do something similar.

Looks to be operating normally

My 2011 Tahoe is having the same issue. I am worried to bring it in and see what the bill will be.

I'm not a mechanic by any means, but I would bleed out the coolant and start fresh. Connect a pressure guage, if the pressure is fluctuating it means the gas is expanding in the compressor. Does it blow cold air early morning or at night before it gets hot outside?

Couple of things:
When testing make sure the AC is on MAX and recirculate, and the car is running :)
Try to test when the car has not be running i.e.: operating temp
Sometimes, the cabin air filter, usually behind the glove box, if it is occluded it will cause issues.
Also, Schrader valves are known to fail, this may be the issue you are having on the low side reading.

Edit: I’ve heard of the switch for the clutch not working when it gets warm. It’s the switch to engage the magnetic clutch.
Check pressure in the system. Too high or low. I’m leaning towards low with it coming on and off.

Refrigerant leaks: Loss of refrigerant through leaks will cause multiple problems for an air conditioning system. One of the major signs that a leak has occurred is when the AC begins to short-cycle. Since low refrigerant is an immediate threat to a compressor.

Check your air filter. Believe it or not, a clogged air filter can cause a wide variety of air conditioning issues. ... Check your thermostat placement. ... Check your air conditioner's refrigerant levels. ... Replace the low-pressure control switch. ... Check the compressor.

Bleed out the coolant and start fresh. Go to Autozone and they will loan out the vacuum pump for the AC system. Draw down the system to a vacuum and make sure there are no leaks. While the system is under vacuum add the proper amount of new coolant in accordance with the manufacturer of your vehicle.
If you do all that and it's still broke might want to think about replacing the pressure sensor or compressor.

I’d love to know how this turns out, complete with the price tag. I’m going through the same problem with a 2013 Sentra.

the gas is expanding in the compressor.
This must be the case as there was high pressure at the low pressure port.
Pushed in the Schrader valve and released the pressure until it reached normal levels.
A/C now blows cold and the compressor is cycling normally

On my old Ford truck, when the compressor got low on OIL not FREON, it would constantly click on and off on and off and never blow cold. I had to take it off and fill it with the appropriate amount and it's worked great ever since

I hear the guys at Autozone are good.
