Foreflight and an iPad. It's about $120 a year but charts/weather/traffic/etc... amazing tool

that gif reminds me of my first solo - instructor said land - I did - then he pops out of the plane and said "you're ready - go" that might have the one of the scariest moments of my life and I porpoised that fricking plane so bad on the landing that I was sure that I wrecked the landing gear. Luckily the plane was fine - I think

I’ve been using Logten since UPT. They pulled the rug out from under me and went to a subscription model since I started using it, but it’s great. Even in the unsupported format. It breaks down everything for every airline application(if that’s what you’re after). Even if you’re not going for an airline job it’s still very user friendly and can generate a clean looking PDF for any set of metrics you want.
No clue what the current pricing is though.

Technically I'm a pilot - I have my license, but I haven't flown an aircraft in about 15 years and my medical is out of date. I'm not 100% positive that I could properly communicate with local traffic at this point.
agreed...
Was that Christina Applegate????
Just Glide it in...

You know what they say.
A good land is when everyone walks away. A great landing is when you can use the airplane again.

I'm just here to say that I'm a pilot. Carry on.

How about you go ask your pilot coworkers

Foreflight works fine for me but I’m just a pathetic little PPL.

If you are into flight sims and computer stuff try VATSIM or something like that. I forgot the name but there’s a west coast based live atc paid service that’s damn good for practice. Even IFR stuff.

Took my first flying lesson today, it was awesome.
Congrats! That’s a huge first step. At which airport are you taking your lessons?
I don’t remember the number, but there is a considerable percentage of student pilots who never finish. If I could offer any advice it would be to find the right instructor, take your time, don’t worry about the money, and enjoy the ride!
I had three different instructors for my private, and got so frustrated that I wanted to quite a few times. Honestly, the only thing that kept me in it was that I bought the training plane (PA-28-160) from my first instructor after he got called up to ATP. It was a great idea and worked out well for me, but otherwise I likely would have never finished.

Thanks, I’m pumped about it, been working towards this for a minute.
I’m taking lessons in the small airport in my old hometown, Winnsboro.
My instructor is top notch. Former Air Force hurricane pilot, c130 instructor, accident investigator. He is great. I hope to progress as much as possible and make a living as a pilot. I’m 40 FYI.

debatable
We actually have to use the thing on the back of the plane called the rudder & the pedals for things other than brakes. It's an acquired taste.

JR are his initials. And I must say I lucked out because he is an excellent person.
