Good question! Probably better for someone else, I'm in Washington, DC.... I know there at least used to be places in Baton Rouge. I'd imagine New Orleans has some...?

tons of places on the Westbank, NO East, and even in Metairie (Pho Bang) and Harahan (Kim Anh's).

In Baton Rouge there are a few good places on Florida...the gf and I usually go to Pho Quynh.

As for choosing between pho and gumbo, it really depends on my mood. I could eat either until I explode.

I believe it's not just beef broth. Very good stuff!

it's beef based (short ribs, bones, sirloin, etc.) but has cloves, herbs, etc to give it the fresh flavor. I made it from scratch and it's a giant pain in the arse.

This is not comparing apples to oranges...its more like comparing apples to...okra.

Seems kinda silly...to me...to compare one to the other. Both are good when properly prepared. When I want gumbo, pho wont do. When I want pho, gumbo wont do. They're not interchangable

Well, they're both soups. If you can't compare that, you can't compare anything. And I'd say okra > apples...

Best Pho in Br is at Little Siagon, corner of fla and sherwood forest. Dangs and Pho Quyn also do good jobs but Lil Siagon is my favorite....... they make outstanding spring rolls too!!

Well yes, they are both soups...from vastly differnet parts of the world and vastly different cuisines. Hardly camparable.

Okra > apples? Uh...one is a veg...the other is a fruit. You would want okra pie...or apple-n-tomatos?
