With NIL everybody is a threat
Posted on 6/20/22 at 9:11 am to saturncube21
If so, and then there are two scenarios:
1. Can nebraska really out bid us?
2. Does he really want to go to nebraska?
If so, then I am okay with it.

This.
I think fans (if they haven't already done so) are going to find out how "loyal" home state (not just Louisiana) kids are. And I can't say I blame them. For many, NIL deals offer life changing money for the kid and his family. If a "school" (i.e. the boosters) are offering a kid from an lower middle class to impoverished home six figures that is VERY hard to turn down...even if the kid may not 100% love the school that is offering such.

2022 draft
Flott 3 star 610 ranked prospect, 3rd round pick
Of the top 20 corners that year, 3 were first round picks (one being Stingley), one was a 2nd round pick, one switched to baseball (2 sport guy at LSU), and the rest are UDFAs, or still in school. Flott is an early exit, 60th ranked corner, and went in the 3rd round.
Neil Ferrell 3 star 375 ranked prospect, 4th round pick
Of the top 20 DTs that year, 1 is a first round pick, 1 is a 2nd round pick, 3 are 4th round picks (one converted to an offensive tackle and one is Tyler Shelvin of LSU), and all the rest are UDFA or still in school
Cade York 3 star 1776 prospect #4 kicker, 4th round pick
Just looking at the top 10, all UDFAs or still in school
I could look at past guys like Justin Jefferson, DJ Chark, CEH, Cushenberry, Damien Lewis, Foster Moreau, Jabril Cox, etc.
Kelly has sent many OL prospects to the NFL, recently LSU has done the same. Davis is a top tier OL coach. Nebraska has had one OL drafted higher than 5th round since the 2016 draft. Does anybody remember Dare Rosenthal? A starting tackle at LSU, going to Kentucky out of the blue last year then becoming an UDFA?
Look, all I'm saying is, do your research kids. LSU is one of, if not the best NFL factory. We aren't Bama, UGA, and Ohio St who have 8 billion 5 stars and such and they are getting drafted left and right by just being themselves, we build better players. We build a lot of guys into NFL prospects. Jefferson was 200lbs when he left LSU, want to take a guess how big he was coming into LSU? Pat Queen was a 4 star ATH guy who was 40-45 spots away from being a 3 star. He became an early exit first round pick and NFL starter. Helaire was a 3 star 5-7 190 prospect that, in 3 years became a 5'7 207 first round pick.
Again, food for thought for any prospects that are lurking

Excellent post, though. I'd wager that Staff constantly makes every recruit aware of those facts.

I know the Dline coach for Neville. He has some solid connections with Nebraska and TCU and Baylor. Having said that I dont see him pushing Heard in any direction. So I think it will be more up to where he wants to go. I believe he may be one of these guys that doesnt commit till signing day. I am from Minden, last two years we had to play Neville in district games as well as meeting them in the playoffs. Heard is the real deal I can tell you that. Only down side I can see is he has problems keeping his knees healthy. But most big guys have the same issue. My gut tells me he commits to LSU. I have no inside scoop on this, just my gut feeling.

Tell me this kid doesn’t look like the real deal, as far as high school OT prospects are concerned!!

He’s still visiting with them and taking their calls at this point. He also talks to Texas a good deal. I think LSU will pull it out in the end.

Dude looks way better than his ranking says to me. LSU better give him what he wants or they missing out. He should be a 5* just for his potential alone.

He’s in 5* range on On3 and is probably the top player on LSU’s staff board besides Sampson

Is the smoke for Jalen Brown real?

I think he ends up a 5*
