Brietbart article

He noted he and his Republican colleagues are trying to ascertain why the ammunition was purchased, noting, “There is concern that this is part of a broader effort to have any entity in the federal government buy up ammo to reduce the amount of ammunition that is in supply, while at the same time, making it harder to produce ammo.”

$700k just doesn’t seem like such a large amount to move the demand needle.

Obama playbook. USPS did the same thing around 2014, only they got billions of rounds.

They hoped it would fly under the radar. Probably two dozen agencies doing the same thing.

Good point. Keep in mind how many federal agencies have LEAs: Interior, HUD, FAA, Postal, Agriculture, DOE, VA… hundreds !

Time to keep notes on any police/paramilitary forces that any of these government agencies initiate - or maintain...

They have sworn agents. Virtually every federal agency has a law enforcement investigative arm. I’m not suggesting these purchases are legit or justified. I’m just saying that’s what they would use for their justification.

IRS has 2200 armed agents, and I assume that they go to the range. Is it unusual for a governmental agency to buy ammo in bulk?

Obama did the same thing and is continuing the practice during his third term.

Years ago I got into a debate with someone who was retired IRS. He was mad at my post where I said the governement takes your money at the point of a gun. He said, the IRS has no guns and all you are threatened with is jail if you cheat on your taxes. Well hell, I guess that ammo is just to look at then - they don't have any guns!

Let’s say they’re getting ball ammo at .50/round. That’s 1,400,000 rounds. That’s 636 rounds per agent for training in a year. If my math is right, that’s not outlandish, and you make a good point.

That’s hypothetically if it were all used for training. You’d imagine some of it is higher cost carry ammo too.

Postal has a shite ton of agents, too

He lied to you.

Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) is the United States federal law enforcement agency responsible for investigating potential criminal violations of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and related financial crimes. There are 2200 of them, and they are armed.

I wish the IRS would focus on processing my return and sending me my refund check instead of buying ammo.
