Some guy said “ Coach Oz has already said he is very happy here when he turned down the Tulane job down”.

Because Tulane is totally in a great baseball conference and has the same money to throw around as LSU

How good is the guy really? Most of the USM fans I know seem to believe their pitching is mediocre and their lineup is usually the strength of the team.

They all were saying this year how unusual it is to have such a strong pitching staff.

Assistant job at LSU is better than hc job at tulane and usm too. I would not leave a state retirement behind to take an out of state job

Stay in Hattiesburg or go for the biggest job offer in his life?

Why? He isn’t 50 yet and can go back for his last 2-3 years for retirement. You wouldn’t leave to make 2-3 times more salary and if your successful go back to Mississippi?

It's not like he can't take the USM head coaching job later and still get the state retirement. I don't know the details, but coming to LSU for a few years shouldn't stop him from getting that.

He can always go back and finish his retirement. You seem dialed in. How many years does he have left?

How long has he been at usm? He may not be vested and would forfeit his pension

Education retirement systems have very strange vesting and forfeiture clauses which is complicated by not paying into social security while in Mississippi teachers retirement

Scott isn't ready to hang it up. He's close but could easily go 5 more years.

If you read his bio, he has been in the Mississippi system for 17-18 years.

Tulane isn't even a lateral move. He turned Tulane down as he was in talks with LSU as Johnson knew he had an opening.
