The whole Florida panhandle is just played out to me. There’s so much more world out there for comparable $

I hate saying this and sounding like an ahole, but 100% agree. Costs more to spend a week in the fricking FL panhandle with the same people you see at the local grocery store every day than it does to spend a week in say Costa Rica for example.

Nothing wrong with the area by any means though, it's beautiful for sure.

I'm pretty big on "there is more out there than Disney/US beaches/etc."

But 30A is objectively great for families IMO. Now, the folks coming from Houston and Dallas to 30A is different, but it's hard to beat if you're in Atlanta.

All that said, I think it's miserable in Summer, when it practically turns into Destin.

I agree with this.

That said, we are taking the 6 month old down to perdido for 5 nights next month. Been told its less crowded than either direction east or west. We need a break, dont want to leave him with the grandparents just yet, and its somewhat close.

I couldn't believe how high a simple 2 br condo was on the beach these days. We are going to mexico late summer as well and that will actually cost less WITH airfare, all inclusive than what we are paying for 5 nights on the ole Redneck Riviera. I am assuming VRBO/AirBnB has caused this?
