The sad reality is in all likelihood the 4 dead, given the opportunity, would have senselessly killed those who killed them for the same unnecessary reasons.

The key here is mass shooting. The more that die in any single crime the better. It can be deemed a mass shooting and that will get us to gun control. It's obvious there have been a million phone calls around the country to get the reportage on "mass shootings".
