Thompson's first 8th inning AB was a game changer.

Down 0-2, battles back to get an RBI hit. Just watched the bottom of the 8th again.
From the BPB by the gentleman and scholar, Mr. CheerWhine:
"Thompson up, Pearson on 1st, Berry on 2nd, no outs, crookedness on the board
foul, 0-1
foul, 0-2
foul, 0-2
foul, 0-2
outside, check swing, he held up, 1-2
lands fair down the left field line, double, Berry scores!!!!!!!"

I believe that was his next to last AB....he hit into a double play to end the 8th inning in his very last AB....
I agree with you re the maturity he showed to work back from 0-2 in that AB to get the hit was outstanding!!

You mean the double play he hit into?

Thompson has been on a hitting tear for the last 20 games or so. He’s got to be hitting about .350 in that stretch. He’s had his struggles on defense, and at this point he gets dumped on by the haters for plays that Cal Ripken couldn’t have made.
But the kid keeps playing hard and helped us win that game last night. The at bat in the OP was THE KEY at bat of that 8th inning.

That was the pivotal AB of the night for sure.

Out of all of the knocks melters bitch about this team, one thing that cannot be melted on is 95% of this team's ability to effectively work with two strikes.

I'd have been pretty pissed if I was on the other side of that check swing. It was about as close as it gets

Really liked how he beat his chest when he was down 0-2 in the count. It was like he was saying okay guys I got this you can count on me.

It was a great AB, but many of the other successful ABs that inning were just as important.

Dude is talented, and it's hard to deny that. His bat has been quietly a potent part of our lineup lately. I really hope either that highly touted recruit (Romero maybe?) makes it to campus or we can pull in a solid SS transfer and next year we could put Thompson at 2B or 3B where he won't have the pressure on himself and we might get the benefit of both his hitting and fielding potential.
