Considering picking up a Mh and would like to hear opinions from anyone who has played these titles .
Is Rise much better than World ?
Can every monster be solod ?
Is the combat smooth ? Seems a bit… janky in videos
Can I just hop on, go hunt a monster for 20 minutes, log off and feel accomplished ?
Are they pretty tough ? I’d like a challenge but also don’t mind farming easier content for gear

Depends on what you are playing on. I assume if you are comparing them you must be playing computer and I think rise is considered the better game.

Yes everything is made for soloing as far as I'm aware.

I've did that before just trying to farm for different materials from monsters.

It's very similar to a dark souls game. You just have to learn patterns and you can do some pretty nuts combos against them.

MH is a lot of fun but the barrier of entry is significantly high. A good bit beyond FromSoft games even though everyone likes to bitch about them. The stories put forth make Dark Souls look like Shakespeare. It’s all about the combat loop. Do what you will with that.

Yeah. Computer . Thanks. Sounds good

Interesting . Didn’t realize the barrier of entry was so high but that’s fine . Rather intriguing even
Not interested in a story, just want to fight big monsters with weapons so no worries there .

World is much more of a challenge than rise. I was able to solo through the entire game pretty quick up to the first couple additions in dlc. World took me longer
Combat in both of those games is smooth I would say. They are a lot more polished than the earlier entries.
And yes it’s a really easy pick up, play for a bit, log off game. Especially if you play online but you may get frustrated partying with idiots that get carted quickly and fail your mission

I wouldn't say it's "harder" just different. With his question the way he said it I would recommend rise, because of my first point:
Rise is much quicker: smaller maps, faster combat, and easier travel - what this does is makes the "missions" a whole lot faster, whether you kill or get the three strikes, it's a whole lot faster to get to that point.

I’ve only played MH World and it was a blast. I co-oped with a buddy through most of it. Basically you farm the monsters for new armor and weapons to get to the next area with new monsters and rinse and repeat. Sounds simple but it was fun as hell. I didn’t find it to be overly difficult or anything but there is some grinding because you’ll need certain body parts for certain armor and weapon pieces.

I think MH world is a better game overall but Rise is very good too. Rise feels more arcadey. They are both good and different enough to where you should try both.
Every monster can be solo'd.
The combat is smooth, but it may feel clunky at first depending on what games you are used to playing. Some weapons are intentionally very slow and some are very fast.
For the most part yes. If you get on for 20 mins, you'll get your log in bonus for the day and can do a single hunt and get some materials.
As far as easier content, there is plenty of reason to farm easier monsters for materials, especially after you start going through other weapon lines. So if you have a day where you don't feel like doing the hardest content, you can still progress your gear collection by doing easier stuff.

I’m just saying it was more of a challenge to me, but that could be because it was my first MH game. He also asked for a challenge which is why I mentioned it
Eta: I mained long sword in both but got pretty good with charge axe as well. LS can be extremely satisfying pulling off the specials like iai strike that advance the charge to red
Charge axe can be pretty complicated at first but once you figure it out it’s fun as hell. In all seriousness though there probably isn’t a weapon to pick that’s not fun as hell even though there’s some I’ve never touched
Etaa: just don’t be a dumbass dork like this guy LINK. Upgrade your gear every so often and you’ll have fun and do fine

I played world for awhile after it first came out. Really enjoyed it.
There was a learning curve, but it was rewarding getting good at the game.
Everything I can remember was solo’able or could run with friends. Only thing was that monster health is based upon players in the world. So some were easier to solo than with friends.

MH:W was a blast. Once you get into a groove and know what build you want, progressive target farming is the ticket.
Posted on 6/4/22 at 2:17 pm to Devious
yeah i can see the appeal.
not sure what build i want. lot of crazy weapons. i know you recommended Hammer . ill have to check that our in Training Area.
longsword seems simple and good enough for now while i figure out what all these consumables do. learned that whetstones and stamina regens and antitodes and nullberries are pretty important . im sure they all have their uses

I ran dual blades for movement speed and agility at first. It made the combat less clunky until I got fight flow down. The charge axe is super good if you take the time to learn its mechanics. But it's hard to use for beginners.

This shite got a lot more fun once I figured out combos and wirebug tech
