That time of year again…sitting through 2 hrs just for the dance rehearsal…only to come back tonight and watch for another 2 hrs
What’s up with the number of boys in dancing and how does one have their teenage son in dance when he is over weight, in tights and is absolutely terrible??
Just weird

I worked at a school that had a nationally known performing arts magnet. You had one or two guys that were gay, but the ones who weren’t were with some of the hottest girls in the school and ended up not paying a dime for college (there’s a huge need for male dancers in a few different disciplines).
A couple have toured with Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Prince (when he was still alive), etc. Some of the others in the ballet discipline are with major metro dance corps.

Are parents expected to attend dance practice? Practice? We talking practice.

Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music's high
With a bit of rock music, everything is fine
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance
You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen
Feel the beat from the tambourine
Oh, yeah
You can dance, you can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl, watch that scene
Digging the dancing queen

Same thing with male cheerleaders… it’s just beyond awkward to see

Kid has to get to and from rehearsal…this is a very large studio. Cant leave 10 year old by herself.
Have the whole Cynthia woods pavilion in the woodlands rented out Saturday/Sunday/Monday for everyone to perform so tons of people.

Not to sound sexist, but i’ve noticed moms usually sit through the dance practices and dads sit through the sports practices, since that’s where their interests lie. It sucks to be there if you aren’t even into the activity.

Dance could be part of balanced interests if there were also things like sports etc.

frick the judgement. Kid is doing something he likes and has a chance to exercise/lose weight. Much better than doing nothing

Parents want them to dance. So they dance.

Which is why you always volunteer to help coach the activity.
I’ll never go back to sitting on the sidelines. Too much fun to actually get out there and “play” again.

We'd all like to know. Video yourself asking his dad(s). Show them what real men like and talk about.
