So many idiots on this board. They would rather scour the internet for a story of extremism and paint everybody with that brush. Somehow that's fun for them.

Thank you for not being so short-minded and seeing the point.

Most people love to live in misery. The average human minds thinks 80% negative thoughts.

What’s funny is, I stood in a line for 13 hours to go to a 2019 Trump rally with people passing out all around me.

When your team is losing in the messaging game why would they want to talk politics?

Really I meant the big cities. Dallas and Houston. I didn’t want to say the whole state of Texas since it is so diverse. Also, many south Texas counties being so Latino, this statement would’ve have been true.

My family tried like hell to tell me not go because they basically thought there’s a damn civil war going on in California because of the progressives who live there

There's no civil war because the peogs have already won, there. They're nice to you because you're no threat to them. Go to more contested, purple areas, and the political climate is more tense. Go to places like Portland that have entered full blown communism, and it's downright hostile politically.

Speaking from experience having grown up in California, in general the people there are pretty nice compared to other places. Year round seasonable weather I think affects overall disposition.

No. California is in steep decline. Just check the stats. Pick anything you want. It’s a shadow of its former self. One could argue that prior to 1990 it was the greatest place to live and had more advantages than any state in American history. Now it’s overrun with incompetent government, stifling government regulations, incredible poverty, homelessness, drug culture, horrific housing costs, water issues, energy issues, crime, failed schools, terrible traffic, poor quality of life . All of this as we enter a prolonged recession with insane inflation, stock portfolios plummeting, etc. Set against the backdrop of income inequality caused by having an economically untouchable Ruling Class in tech , entertainment and real estate.

You are beyond foolish to defend the collapse of what might have been our greatest state.

I go to the Bay area twice yearly for work, usually spend 3 days there. The weather is incredible but the most redeeming quality is the dining options, it's a food mecca out there

I’ve been told by many on this board that this is a good thing. I was told that the millions of Latino immigrants each year would bring with them to America strong family values and conservative principles. I was told they would save America.

Because when I look at all the Hispanic or Latin countries in the world I can’t help but feel envious. Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Columbia, Venezuela - call me a dreamer, no pun intended, but the future looks bright

Next time you are there check out the cost of a meal. Venezuela was a food mecca too ( arepas! ) and now you can’t find basic items and 25% of the country has moved out. The point being not that California is Venezuela, but that California has been considered the awesome state for a reason, and it’s a shame that incompetent government policy is killing it. I view California as a suicide. That doesn’t negate all the great Americans and cities and industries, it just illustrates the insanity of squandering our assets. What has happened to our greatest cities (LA San Francisco etc) is an American tragedy. There is no need to defend decline .

I am in Napa right now on the way to Muir Woods. Never, ever let these leftists bitch to conservatives about income inequality. The disparity between the Hispanic workers and the wine barons (all of whom are champagne socialists) is worse than any place in the Deep South. And to add insult, these poor Hispanics and working class whites are regularly subjected to water restrictions while their ruling class uses sprinkler systems on their thousands of acres of property, all while screaming to anyone who'll listen about white privilege and the evils of capitalism.

Same can be said for Seattle, I love the place, and the weather, You can’t judge the city by what the media wants you to see.

In my limited travels to Cali, both LA and San Fran areas, I also found most people were very nice, they were over COVID restrictions and in general good people. What stood out to me was there were hardly any churches in the areas I visited. In the south, you can find a church on almost every other street.

100%. We have like 3 churches within every square mile. The only churches I think I saw there was a catholic cathedral in the city and another Protestant one. There were people preaching on the corner and handing out fliers.

Not sure where you were, but i usually pick up stuff at Target next to Moscone and everything is 2x-3x more expensive than my local Walmart. It's also overran with homeless.

Some of the coolest, let-me-be, laid back people I've causally met were in Los Gatos, Santa Cruz mountains (the actual town is nutbag now) and Mendocino County.
