Is it the worst drought ever, or is it because more folks are taking the water?

Ever is a long time. We have limited records compared to ever. What is really normal over the long term? This is the lowest since 1936 when Hoover Dam impounded the lake. Meade could fill up but that would break water rights laws. They are bound to maintain a minimum flow in the Colorado River, however that may be decreased by 4.4 % this year according to reports. Too many people in an area that can't support it.

hey now, you're not allowed to use common sense here.
The actual reason doesn't matter. "Lake Mead Drying up due to worst drought ever, you won't believe what caused it" will generate tons of clicks. That's what matters.

Water usage. Most of Nevada is owned by the government in turn they have the rights to a lot of the water sources.
That marina in the pic is where I used to fish. The government tried to supress for years that they displaced a whole town to build Boulder Dam. We used to go fishing where the houses were because they were essentially reefs at that point.

CA refuses to create more so this is the result.

They really do siphon away the water and the electricty. Most of the power generated at Hoover goes to Cali and Vegas just gets a really good rate

Combination, but mostly due to population growth in dry climates.

Worst drought in 1,200 years.
So what caused the drought that long ago?
Climate change people won’t answer that question
