Easily Ed,
Miles had his issues, but that man has forgotten more about football than Ed ever knew in the first place.

Coach O was the luckier of the two. Miles despite all his flaws was able to have sustained success here while O sunk the ship after his Championship.

Despite his flaws, I think Les Miles was a great coach. He sustained and built great teams.
Ed was a good recruiter that got a generational talent (Burrow) that was also surrounded by generation talent (Chase, Jefferson, etc...).

He was good, not great. Great is top tier. Miles had a chance to put himself in the great category but got complacent.

I agree. Miles was a good competent SEC coach, maybe even very good, but not great.

You can’t just look at W-L records. You have to evaluate that in context based on the talent he had. And he had NFL everywhere, yet underachieved on too many occasions.
And nobody, except Kansas, wanted him after he left LSU. That’s telling.

Probably just the opposite. Les was a complete doofas, and always has been.

I don’t think either one of their success can be attributed entirely to luck as you suggest. They both worked their asses off to be stellar recruiters and put together top notch staffs. We were also the beneficiaries of their work.
