Trump National was fricking badass. On the coast
Prepare to lose 20 balls. If you go in the rough, most of the time it’s off of cliffs and you ain’t getting your ball

I really hope you didn't mean Torrey Pines, cause there's no way to make it from LA to La Jolla in 90 minutes unless you plan to play at 3am. Even then there's bound to be a crash or road construction.

Lmao glad others chimed in.
Ain’t no way you making it to Torrey in 90 minutes. I live in between LA and SD and I couldn’t probably even make it to Torrey in 90 minutes.
“LA” is pretty generic, it’d be more helpful to know which part.
Rustic Canyon and Trump National are fun courses (Trump is obviously better) but neither are really close to LA either. Rustic Canyon is up on the very northwest bit of Moorpark and Trump is down in Palos Verdes. With no traffic they’ll probably each take 30-40 minutes in their own right. But in LA there’s always traffic so I’d guess an hour at least to even those

Helicopter?? But seriously, sorry. Staying in Anaheim it took me about 90. But that was 18-20 yrs ago.
Thought my answer was more helpful than LACC

I have no recommendations for courses in and around LA. But I don't consider Orange County to be merely a suburb of LA. While it's only 25 miles from LA to Anaheim it can take 20 minutes or 2+ hours with no rhyme or reason. Once you get past Anaheim/Orange on the 5 or past Costa Mesa on the 405 heading towards San Diego you have a decent shot of driving at or above the speed limit.
To the OP, if you are in LA and looking to golf stay in the county unless you plan for a full 10 hours away from where you are staying. Maybe look at courses around Pasadena?

We are staying in the Tarzana area. Looks like Rustic Canyon, Woodland Hills CC, Braemar CC and El Cabellero CC are all nearby. Trump National is a haul from there.

Yea from Tarzana going down to Trump may be a slog unfortunately. I think in this case Rustic Canyon might be the best choice. It’s pretty fun, although I admit I don’t understand its cult-like admiration. It’s not THAT cool/nice of a course. It’s just in good shape usually and unusual for the area (more links style so pretty open). It gets rave reviews but put me in the “aight” column. You could do worse. For instance for me personally, I enjoy Tierra Rejada more than Rustic and it’s right down the road from it. It’s got better Mountain View’s etc. but it’s probably not as nice as Rustic, plus it’s more difficult so people don’t like it as much. I think Moorpark Country Club is public and it looks really nice from photos. I moved out of the valley before I had the chance to play. 27 holes though and they look nice.
Braemar is supposed to be pretty cool too, I’ve never played but would like to try it out. Supposed to be really really difficult. Never played the other CCs on your list either.
Just stay away from the Encino, Balboa, Woodley Lakes. It’s 3 courses on one property. Those will be the 3 closest to you but they are all shitholes.
If you’re feeling somewhat adventurous (maybe 35-45 mins) then Angeles National is probably your best bet. Nothing in the city (unless you somehow get on somewhere exclusive) will beat the ones mentioned.
I’d go Angeles National 1. Probably Braemar 2 cuz I’ve heard decent things and that it’s a really tough course and I like tough courses. (Those are definitely the two hardest courses on the list, but like I said I enjoy hard courses).
3rd would be Rustic or one of the other country clubs.
That’s just me personally

We played the Ike course at industry hills years and it was great. So much elevation. Trump was great too but that coast wind is killer.
If you were seriously considering Torrey you’re not getting on in June a month out. Went to SD last year in September and I was looking at tee times in June and it was booked.
