Here is what we have planned. We added the day of the 17th kinda last minute due to flight prices/schedules.
Anything you would suggest? We were going to do two days in Denali, but the road is closed at mile 43 due to a landslide and won't be fixed for years. So we opted to add the hotsprings and a day in fairbanks instead.
1. (16th) Flyin to Anchorage
2. (17th) Drive towards Kenai. (Stops at Turnagain arm, Portage Lake, Tern Lake, Russian river)
3. (18th) Anchorage to Glacier View (Hatcher Pass and Independence mine, Manatuska evening glacier hike).
4. (19th) Glacier View to Chena Hot Springs. Gorgeous Drive. Costner Ice Cave time permitting. Chena (Ice museum at seven, hot springs after).
5. (20th) Chena to Denali. (Creamer's Field,, Fairbanks Museum, Healy Bus)
6. (21st) Denali (Bus tour) Dog Kennels
7. (22nd) Denali (Drive in ourselves 15 miles, some river walks, then head on to Talkneeta for evening Denali flight.) Stay night in Talkneeta
8. (23rd) Talkneeta Denali Flight in morning if canceled day before then on to Seward. (Potter Marsh? Portage Glacier? Exit Glacier hike? Russian River?)
9. (24th) Seward Full day Cruise to Northwestern Fjord
10. (25th) Seward Half day cruise to Aialik Bay. Drive to anchorage. (Exit Glacier?)
11. (26th) Fly out

Here are a few ideas-
1. Midnight Sun brewery in Anchorage is fun, if not very scenic. It's in an industrial park. But good beer and nice patio. Plenty of Swag, even if you're not a swag guy, you need some Alaska swag that is a bit deeper than and "anchorage" sweatshirt that every tourist gets.
2. Simon and Seafort's restaurant downtown Anchorage.
3. Take the train to/from Seward. I know we don't take trains a lot in the US and it seems arse backwards, but you will want to be looking at mountains and eagles, not dotted lines and blacktop. There are dome cars that allow for some great 360 views.
All of these pics were taken from the train between Anchorage and Seward about five years ago.

Go fishing for halibut and rock fish using Miller's Landing in Seward.
If you are prone to sea sickness, and there is a salmon run happening, book a river salmon trip on the Kenai or Kasilof river instead.
I flew home with 125 lbs of cleaned fileted fish doing both of the above last September. It will be a trip of a lifetime! Enjoy

Thanks, would love to fish. But I don't think my wife or mother would enjoy it much.

Prepare to be amazed. Do exit glacier on the way back to Anchorage. It is an easy detour.
We were not able to do the train due to schedule conflicts but the drive is still beautiful.
The boats out of Seward see so many animals!

You misspelled Ling Cod.
They have combo trips but I would definitely go hook up on big lings for sure if I went fishing.

You are correct! We caught 4 ling cod too. I just wasn't sure how familiar the travel board would be with that; this isn't the outdoor board after all.

I would spend as little time as possible in Anchorage.
IMO, don’t cancel your stay in Denali. When I visited, you couldn’t go past mile 30 and it was still incredible. There are some incredible hikes near the entrance.
10000% take the train. Don’t pay for the dome car. You can go into the public dome cars from the general seating for half the price.
I’ve been 3 times, and the Kenai is by far my favorite. Gotta try to go fishing without the fam one day.

We can edumacate them
My buddy from Michigan went on a guided trip in Washington and likes it better than walleye.
It's my favorite white fish but I haven't had fresh caught Walleye. One day....
I'll be in Neah Bay, WA looking for Lings in late June. Bottom fishing is my personal favorite fishery.
