I noted during the 'great recession' everyone flocked to schools [which has been done before] but it was different this time. The average cost of a bachelors degree is now 10x the cost of when I grew up, as states continue to cut funding for the schools, the schools grew with lazy-rivers and jungle-gyms.
Only Mike Rowe pointed out the obvious after we had started outsourcing so many positions. This is what we saw growing up:

Its funny, the tech bubble has been the cause of most of this. Kids with basic skills being paid outrageous amounts of money to do tech things.
I remember working on assignment when Accenture brought in nearly 60 people [former nurses, teachers, media specialists] to perform basic html work for their clients.
I don't begrudge anyone for striving to get ahead, and have watched a fair share go from minimum wage to six figures in 5 - 10 years. But not everyone can do it, Those that do are usually gifted.
This bubble will bust.
