How am I supposed to ignore my family and play on my phone if the kids don't have their own phones to play on

Oh sure, we could just talk to each other, is it 1960?

May I offer you a screaming 2 year old next to your table in exchange for a quiet 2 year old watching Mickey Mouse's Mixed Up Adventures?

Edited to add "GFYS if you don't like it. I don't like your quietness. It's annoying af."

I wouldn’t call that parenting. Just lazy.

They will either annoy you with or without the phone.

That kid is probably sending out uncensored tweets about the LGBTQ+ dork staring at him

Two things that irritate me at restaurants and it's not the restaurants fault:
1) Kids playing stupid games or videos with the volume cranked up and their parents do nothing about it (hell even adults do this now)
2) People sitting at a table on the phone at a quiet restaurant making everyone around them listen to their conversation about who is sleeping with who at the trailer park. GO OUTSIDE!

They shouldn’t take kids to any public gatherings that require decorum, until they’re old enough to sit quietly without the need to be entertained. Restaurants and churches for example.

Parades or other social gatherings where there is no need for refined behavior are acceptable. But then you’d have to be, well, a parent to make those types of decisions and many, many parents reject that responsibility.

I get having kids watch videos in waiting rooms or car rides, but never at the table. You learn to behave and manage conversation. This is a life skill.

Those same kids grow up and continue doing this well past ages 2-5. Some of the down votes are those same kids now adults.
