Can you imagine the DMs and communication history a private company now holds?

Just thinking about the Shaun King profile deletion and whether or not he thinks that will remove all of his history, which is hilarious. I can only imagine what kind of DMs he has to other "activists" about all sorts of nefarious stuff.

Then, I was thinking about how many DMs of celebrities and high profile people on a more personal level. Just insane what could theoretically be exposed now. I'm pretty sure in the Twitter terms of service, any media you use the system for is property of Twitter (I know this is the policy of Facebook), so it's not like a privacy argument can even be made if that's true.

That's a secondary thing I thought of yesterday.

Does anyone think that the true believers who work at Twitter HQ will engage in some sort of sabotage prior to Elon fully taking over?

It’s amazing how much people trust technology. I’m paranoid about it. I work overtime to protect myself as much as possible. There are good YouTube channels out there that talk about this stuff. What they are capable of and how to protect yourself. The Hated One is one

I’m just thinking he deleted his account because he’s protesting. Kind of like what we’ve done to Gillette or Dicks sporting goods.

In todays current climate; I do not think he’s scared one bit of what he’s said.

That is an interesting question. Can the employees undermine him to the point they jeopardize the company or make him look bad.

I can imagine him reading people like Bezos' DMs for fun.

I'm not as worried about privacy because most questionable things I do are public (like my posts on this board).

If you don't hide who you are, it makes you act more normally. The belief that you're hidden is a way to make people act out in extreme ways, which is what leads to a lot of issues. Or, thinking you're hidden giving you the confidence to be expressive of pathological behavior (like fraud, etc.) is a big issue.

There is a certain level of tracking that comes as a trade off in exchange for the benefits I get from tech.

They 100% will. You are dealing with people with undiagnosed mental illness and they are completely isolated from public repercussions not to mention I bet some of them would have a martyr complex over sabotaging the platform

For 50 +/- billion dollars, he just guaranteed his other interests, all the private & government grants, research funding and contracts they will need to become enormously valuable in the future.

It does not work like that for public traded companies.

Data can age out of existence, but any recent deleted data will still be within online and offline backups.

Since they were public, technically there should have been a separation of powers between an admin deleting online data and access to the backups. Backups should also be sitting somewhere encrypted.

If online data and backups disappeared, it would be conspiracy level involving multiple people and prison time could be sought out by Musk.

A wild guess says that there are all kinds of sabotage and clawback clauses in the purchase contract as well as stay bonuses for critical personnel. Musk is no dumby and neither are the people he has working on this deal.

They’ve locked down the source code so no one can change anything right now.

Now lets say you are a politician and they want to take you out. They pull your info and find out you made a payment on behalf of an underage girl and release it onto social media using bots.

The msm picks up the story and runs it citing "unconfirmed" sources. By the time you try and stop this train you are branded a pedofile.

Turns out you paid the tuition for your 17 year old daughter...which they all knew to begin with. But that does not matter you are forever branded.

I clearly see your point, but in this age of misinformation it sadly does not work that way.

People are really ignorant about the capabilities they have. Given the way government is trending, you would be wise to protect yourself

Forget Twitter, I want to know what was collected from the NSA, who according to a FISA judge herself over 10,000 queries were done unlawfully in just a few years, how many in the last 20, and how has it shaped our politics and the direction of our country???????

I’m sure there are redundancy’s that will allow him to still find all the stuff on servers even if it’s superficially deleted

Can't wait for Elon to dig into all the corporate communications around the 2020 elections and after and find out the government and media has been complicit in silencing and banning people.
