I mailed my taxes in a couple of weeks ago because I was having trouble with e-file. Is there a way to check if they received them?

If you are expecting a refund, the Where's My Refund tool will tell you if they received your tax return.

Otherwise I think you may have to register an account with them.

If you mailed, I’d be prepared to wait a while (months)

But if you had to pay them, they probably cashed the check the day it was received.

I mailed my 2020 taxes in on December 16, 2021 and they still haven’t reported that they received them. The IRS is something like 35 million paper returns behind.

Lesson learned. I dropped the ball on that. Feds owed me and I owed the state. State has already processed and cashed my check and not a peep from the feds.

Are you expecting a refund?

I would give it at least 12 weeks.

Mine arrived on March 1st, but still doesn't show in Where's My Refund. Maybe we will see something before the end of the year.

The IRS has millions of unprocessed 2020 paper returns. It took them six months to process my 2019 paper return. They’ve had my 2020 paper return for seven months now. Don’t count on getting your refund anytime soon.

Account says be prepared to wait months they are so far behind. Where my refund is a joke don’t be surprised it gives no answers.

I’m starting to think that registered republicans get a still processing status while others get their money. My wife and I file separate and she got hers in a week both this year and last. Mine took until September and for this year is still processing. She has no political registration designation. It literally makes no sense

So if you are kinda reckless with your **cough** deductions then you should probably mail yours in.

I mailed in paper 2020 returns that were received in September 2021 (extension) that were just processed (not the check, those greedy bastards cashed that the day they got it) this week so that's about 6-7 month timeline.

My accountant filed ours electronically but I had to pay via mailing in a check. Starting to panic as it still hasn't cleared my account after 3 weeks and now I could be subjected to late fees if the post office lost it. Of course this happens the year we owe a ton so the penalties would be much greater.
