Eh...Lois was hotter and much more understanding with him.

Huh. I thought that was an REM original until now LINK
When I was in high school my mom said she liked the show but Lana was really mean to Clark. I disagreed and internally decided I wouldn’t watch the show with her.
Needless to say my type of chick is crazy and noncommittal

He never gave Lana the chance.
Actually, he did, in Reckoning and she understood.
And she also found out about his powers and was cool about it (remember she married Lex to protect his secret)

Lois was super hot but Lana was perfect the first couple seasons.

Is this a good show? Never watched it before but checking it out now. There’s a lot to like and some kinda weak points too. So it’s a thing about the whole town being paranormal not just Superman?
Also, the tie-ins with then-new music gives it a good 2001 retro feel now. Which is cool.
Kristin Kreuk Is insanely beautiful.
ETA: oh yeah Allison Mack, what a cutie back then, what a psycho she turned into

It is good.
It's not The Americans, but it's solid entertainment and builds on the Superman ethos.
And they had some serious talent in that show. No wonder Alison Mack went psycho. She was serious cute, but was a dog compared to Kreuk and Durrance.

I'd frick her in front of the in laws in the middle of Christmas dinner.

Exactly right. She kept asking him to just be truthful with her and he wouldn't. Smallville is my favorite iteration if Clark but he definitely
made questionable decisions in relation to trust. With hindsight it's easy to think he was right to not trust Lex but the show is interesting in that it makes you wonder if Clark and Jonathan treatment isn't at least partially responsible for who Lex becomes.

A few episodes in and its got really great aspects, and some fairly strong negs, but that somehow don’t seem detract from the overall. Kinda weird that way.
Between this and The OC it’s like a virtual time machine set for 20 years ago and also

You really have to push through the first couple of seasons until it's no longer the "freak of the week" every episode. Once it starts getting into more story arcs and they establish what Clark is trying to do, it gets really good. Rosenbaum carries the series until then. He's fantastic in this one.

It's funny that this WB/CW "teen" show gave us:
The best Lex Luthor
The best Lois Lane
The best Jonathan Kent
The best young Clark Kent
Plus two entirely new characters that became canon: Lionel Luther and Chloe Sullivan
And set the table for the DC TV Universe.

Because damn.

Kreuk apparently got out before it became that

The show is good but fell apart after Rosenbaum left. That dude needs to be LL in a movie. He was the best imo
