No matter what happens from here on out, Ben was a great kid and a great Tiger who used that as a springboard to generational wealth in the NBA.

I don’t think anyone is mad at the thought of him jumping after a year.

They are mad at him not even playing a full year, and being a toxic prima donna even in that shirt while.

The downvotes.... I can't understand it.

Stephen A just spoke the truth.... and it's obvious.

Ben Simmons doesn't have that inner killer / want to.. to be an elite player. And it looks like he's a quitter.

I don't remember ever seeing a situation like what's going on with Simmons.

If you watched at LSU. The last 5 minutes of close games he would disappear. He did not want the ball.

He couldn’t take the pressure and was scared of failure.

He wanted to believe he was great. But he has never lived up to his talent and hype

Simmons is such a weird dude. He wants all the fame and clout and money but doesn’t want to do anything to earn it. Not even play basketball.

Thousands of guys out there scraping to just make it to the NBA and then there’s Ben Simmons..
Even back at LSU, I got the impression Simmons never wanted to play basketball.
But he (or more correctly, his father) figured out early on, he's got the 100% perfect physical profile for the game, and was aware that you can make millions of dollars because of that. So he was groomed for this. Uprooted from home and moved halfway around the world, did the 'elite' training and played the requisite year of D1 college ball. Now going through the motions in the NBA.

I don't know him personally, don't know what he likes. But he probably HATES basketball.

I really wanted to root for him. He gave LSU basketball something to be excited for even if it didnt pan out. Don't mind he left LSU after 1 yr and didnt quite live up to the hype. Foolishly hoped he would find a new spark w Nets and live up to that potential. Think I'm done now, realizing late Ben personifies what's wrong with many big $ athletes and makes pros hard to get excited about. No loyalty, its all for self as indicated by actions on and off field.

I also was initially happy with Simmons. He played "quiet," which I initially mistook for humility - until I realized it was apathy.

And then I realized he couldn't shoot at all, and even looked awkward on layups, where he jumped off the correct foot for a lefty but then awkwardly released the ball with his right hand, which was incredibly off-balance.

And when he passed up the potential game-winner against Marquette, and flat-out hid against Oklahoma, I knew he wasn't a leader or a winner.

He stuffed the stat sheet, but they were hollow numbers. He couldn't take over a game in crunch time and put the team on his back.

And we're seeing that now (even worse) in the NBA.

Serious question-

Has there ever been a bigger soft pussy in college and pro sports than Ben Simmons?

Let’s restrict it to ‘stars’.

To me, no one has ever come close to his level of mental and physical vagina-ness

It's always been about Ben Simmons with Ben Simmons...never about team...we saw it here at LSU...saw it at Philly...now Brooklyn...not surprised...quitters going to quit...it's his track record

He was a strange guy. I think we all thought we had a winner in him, but to me he was just disappointing. Later I felt he just had no interest in being a team guy. Was I wrong???

I know it seems like bull shite for me to say this after the fact but I went to most of his games at LSU as a student and was just so excited to see him play.

The very first game I remember thinking…wait, he isn’t jumping. He looks like he’s trying not to roll an ankle… It was evident from day one.

And he STILL put up insane numbers which makes you wonder what he could’ve been had he actually cared.
