Note: this a along way down the road, but the play of Nuss was very solid, and with more development he’s probably your guy for atleast 2023.

Let’s say Nuss does not start this year, and the loser of the Brennan/ Daniels battle transfers potentially.

The future could look like this…

2022: Brennan/ Daniels (Howard RS)

2023:Nuss (RS Sophomore)

2024: Nuss (RS Junior)

2025:Howard (RS Junior)

Curious how others view the next couple years with so much talent at QB.

I just can’t see Howard sitting until 2025

I agree here too. I just feel with all the LSU family he’s grown up around and the way Kelly develops his QBs he might just stick around to be your starter for 2 years.

if nuss does that well, he'll go pro and Howard will start a year sooner. If he doesn't do well enough to go pro, he'll probably be passed by Howard. Howard is far superior talent. Nuss has good talent but just not on the same level.

If Kelly can get Dante to join the QB group that would be insane: QB room post Brennan would look like:
Nuss *4 (high 4 star)
Howard *5
Moore *5

We would be set for 5+ years.

I can not see a scenario where we keep Nuss, Howard, and Dante for their entire careers. But damnit I want to see them all in the same QB room competing.

Howard to me looks like a less game ready Nuss. Which is understandable considering he’s less experienced.

You are living in a fairytale world if you think Howard is sitting til 2025 to have a shot at starting here... with the Transfer Portal, QB rooms across the country will be a revolving door. We could have a completely different QB room next Spring.

If Daniels can not improve his quick throw game, he will never be an every down QB for LSU.

That’s not to say that he can’t or won’t. They are working on his mechanics. He has a lot of developing to do, but he has enough time to do it. He probably needs to put on some weight too.

If he can, he will be extremely dangerous. Caleb Williams dangerous.

There will be coaches in Nuss’s ear after they watch our spring game. Not saying he will leave if he doesn’t start but if there is a team out there that is QB poor they might take a run at him.

Oh absolutely. And if lsu had a regular season game coming up this weekend, I would strongly consider putting Nuss in starting out until he makes me change my mind. I would even watch Brennan walk out the door if it meant keeping Nuss. Even if I thought Brennan was slightly a better option. You can develop Nuss around this offense for multiple years. He looks so comfortable running it and should only improve.

Regardless, some tough decisions coming up for everyone.

Having a real HC means we get 5* at QB on the reg. Not worried.

Which is why I can't see him starting this year. Even if he has a few solid weeks of passing in Fall camp do you think the coaches would have enough confidence in him to hand him the starting job? Also, I would have to see how good at actually extending plays / scrambling he is. All I saw in the Spring game were straight runs. Once he started he wasn't looking to pass.

I do think he is a project that could yield good results. He can red shirt this year and compete with Nuss for 2023. If Nuss wins that then he transfers, Nuss declares after the year, then it is Walker's to lose in 2024.

2023 becomes a very big problem if Nuss transfers and Daniels doesn’t work out. You then have to turn to a RSF Walker and a TF (hopefully) Dante Moore. Both great QBs. Both just very young though.

Which is why you’re going to start seeing younger QBs get early playing time. Like Caleb Williams. Look at the mullet guy who went from OSU to Texas after one season. These guys are going to take your money and walk out the door if you don’t put them in. I don’t see Walker doing that, but if he doesn’t get on there by 2024, he may start to look around. Nuss is already looking and has coaches blowing up his phone I promise you.
