Run up and down the bleachers 20 times? What would your old coaches do?

Because that works.

Let's give the team salt tablets for hydration like they did in the 60's too.

I mean, field more fungos would be my suggestion, but I'm sure he's already doing that.

My other suggestion would be a sports psychiatrist.

Situations with just him getting ground balls with a first baseman and a runner.
Let him work through the mental part. I think he is panicking when a ground ball is hit to him.

Yes, cause running yourself to the point of exhaustion and not working on the fundamentals will definitely make you a better fielder.

Little leaguers panic when a ball is hit their way. An SEC shortstop who does shouldn’t be an SEC shortstop.

Agreed! They look like they’re afraid to have the ball hit to them. You have to attack the baseball and then just throw it without aiming. Let’s face it, these guys didn’t play like this in high school, or else they never would have made it to LSU. I think they’re definitely capable of playing better.

I guess I agree with this to a degree. But, if there is even a ever so slight bit of distress it would could be the difference in a clean catch and a bobbled ball. I think a sport's shrink may be the answer. '

I remember back in the day I was the best practice fielder in the history of the world. But, in a game, I was just a little better than average. All in my head, and the coach didn't even have the thought that it was "all in his head." If it was a bang-bang play, no problem, but if there was time to be nervous, then a little problem sometimes.

Bottom line, if there is even 1% of this issue at the collegiate level, then its a problem.
