Not sure if you are aware but LSU went 5-6 last season, got smoked by K State in the bowl game, complete roster turnover, new staff the list goes on.

Don’t worry about rankings until November. That’s when they actually matter. Go beat Florida state convincingly, beat the SEC teams you’re supposed to beat and don’t get embarrassed by the others. Pretty easy to finish in the top 25 at 9 wins including the bowl win.

Baseball fans would tell you ESPN is the Baseball America poll of football

Even though the baseball team has been just as average

Some of those rankings are laughable. LSU will finish in the top 25, but they haven't earned starting there. I am expecting 8-4 with a strong bowl win to set the tone for 2023.

I think LSU has to be #1 in "Hardest to Project Top 25" rankings. I mean, it's a brand new coaching staff in their first year, new offensive scheme, new defensive scheme, new starter at QB, new starters across most of the defensive backfield, probable true freshman LT in the SEC, top returning RB production from last season just hit the portal, top WR still injured and not practicing yet, still awaiting some incoming transfers that could have a big impact (i.e. Noah Cain).

I mean ... it's no surprise that we aren't showing up on top 25 lists because I just think most people have no idea what we actually are yet and how we will look in live game situations until we go knock heads with FSU. If we get off to a decent start, we'll start gaining steam. Win our first couple of SEC games, and we'll be ranked in the mid-to-low teens.

TAMU is still ridiculously overrated

Oklahoma St is too high

Ole Miss is way too low

The state of college football is so sad that in one year, Clemson and Oklahoma are outside the top 10 and Utah is #4.

I'd personally still have LSU ranked in the top 25. Top coach, a senior will be starting at QB, loaded WR corps, talented RB corps, loaded DL, good and VERY experienced starting 5 in the secondary, and an OL that truly can't get worse than last year. I mean we should be at least 25th.

Who cares? These preseason lists are complete BS anyway.
LSU is not a national title contender this year. We will likely end up ranked, likely in the 15-20 range when all said and done.

And that’s just fine given the rebuild Kelly has to do.

Damn what O did to the top college football program in the land in 3 short years. Houston, Wake Forest, NC St, Pitt, Tennessee all ranked ahead of Us, but I believe BK will return us to glory in as short of time as O lost all control.
