Balanced Budget Amendment

Very tired of hearing members of Congress talk about wanting to balance the budget and failing to even introduce legislation that references this. I'm writing a paper for a class in regards to adding an amendment to the US Constitution. I proposed to balance the federal budget by gradually decreasing funding for mandatory spending welfare programs and other discretionary spending programs. I advocated for an audit of the military to analyze all of the misappropriations that occur. I faced an angry blue-haired mob after protesting against raising taxes on the 1% to cover the deficit. I explained that not only would hardly make a dent in the debt, but it also isn't the job of financially responsible Americans to bail out an irresponsible government. The they/them mafia of idealistic welfare queens advocating for climate change just can not seem to grasp basic concepts like derailing spending and fiscal accountability. Anyways, I would be interested to hear the rant's opinions on ways to balance the budget or decrease the federal debt.

It's not a bug,
it's a feature.

Has Congress actually produced a budget in the past decade? Balanced or not? They keep churning out continuing resolutions for funding.
Looks awfully unconstitutional from where I'm sitting.

Hannity's save a penny plan. How did that work again?

The last time Congress passed anything that could remotely resemble a federal budget in structure was 1997... and in the following 4 years, the government experienced a surplus in finances. Clinton gets the credit, despite both chambers being controlled by the Republican Party.

Cutting the pork projects would do it quickly.
I EASILY balanced the state budget on the pedophile newspaper's game a few years ago.
They aren't trying, or they could fix it faster than they passed a 21% raise.

Its pretty easy. The budget can be handled the same way normal responsible people balance their personal budgets each month.

Normal people aren't grifters and swamp creatures. They have to work for a living.

I agree but I said it could be handled like we take care of our personal finances. The nanny state programs need to totally junked and rebuilt. The screwed this up years ago when the first administration borrowed money from Social Security. Which on its surface is and was a good idea, but it should only be for ppl that actually contribute to it. It should never have been allowed to be borrowed from and absolutely no one that hasn't contributed should be able to get a dime. Next they need to do away with earned income tax credit. You should not be getting a credit for having kids. It is idiotic that others are paying more to support your kids. Yes we have the most expensive technological advanced military in the world and that takes a lot of money. But I have to think that their is a ton of waste in there also. this is just the beginning.

I wholeheartedly agree with regard to military spending. I can't help but wonder what waste we would find if we uncovered every rock in an audit of many government entities.

Very true. A balanced budget threatens the power of every current office holder, republican and democrat.

One way would be for the congress and senators that vote for any spending have to make their citizens vote it . When blue states go Bankrupt having to pay for the junk they want then things would change .

The majority of Americans want a bloated government.

I have said for years that Congress should vote on individual items. 1 at a time. IE pork is exposed.

The Balance Budget Amendment is a campaign plank for useless GOP candidates. Their consultants tell them they need to include it because it makes you look strong, but they know it will never go anywhere. The GOP and the Democrats are addicted to spending money, just on different items. They will never bring it to a vote and even if it did somehow get through Congress and get submitted to the states for ratification, it will not get enough ratifications. It’s one of those ideas that really sounds great, but is not ever enacted.
