Dramatic cuts are expected for CNN+ in response to the subscription service's low adoption rate, two sources tell Axios.

"CNN executives, with help from consulting firm McKinsey, originally expected to bring in around 2 million subscribers in the U.S. in the service's first year and 15-18 million after four years."

How many lifetime subscriptions did they sell? 10?

Will this work out like the unlimited frequent flyer programs for some airlines where they were stuck with costly passengers for decades because of the contracts involved?

Apparently you can't even get CNN on CNN+

Wow. That’s a lot of idiocy to unfold. It’s like they have no access to viewership numbers to their channel that no one can opt out of from their TV provider.

Somehow they equate that to a sound subscriber base for something you have to actually pay for?

There are a lot of people to laugh at, but Chris Wallace is at the top of the list.

Enjoy the rest of your career being the punchline of a joke, Crissy.

Who’s excited after a long day of work to get home and fire up a CNN + original program ?

This is their problem. People who work are too smart, and people who don't work are too dumb.

Estimates are that Fox Nation only has about a million subscribers, was launched 3 years ago, and is pimped during primetime every night to millions of viewers. Fox is the king of the hill of cable news.

What morons at Time-Warner Or ATT or whoever owns CNN right now would think CNN could double that with a subscription service when their free product on cable is in 3rd place? With estimated of 15 million over 3 years?

As someone mentioned on Twitter, it's not terribly surprising that nobody is signing up to pay for something they already get for free and still don't watch (CNN).

My guess is that all of these services thrive when there is a big ongoing domestic issue (like the BLM riots) - when people are glued to cable news and crave more - and then die off when things slow and people get sick of the cable news cycle, which is never ending and more about feeding controversy and making news than reporting it.

ESPN has a strong model, they have access to tons of niche stuff that people value (college baseball, etc.) and can give us that for a fee and then force their editorialized mainstream crap for free.

IMO this applies to all cable news. An hour of Tucker a day is way too much for me, and I like Tucker. It's just not healthy to promote this stuff even more than it is. I hope they all fail.

Could not have happened to two more deserving train wrecks, Karma is a bitch.

quote:

New York(CNN Business) McKinsey & Company, one of the world's largest consulting firms, will pay nearly $600 million in multiple settlements over its work consulting for drug companies that states say fueled the nation's opioid crisis.

You can’t make this shite up.
