I remember when we we would get beat with a paddle in front of the entire school if we acted up.

There was a time when slavery was legal, racism was encouraged, and leaches were used for medical treatment.

Sometimes, society evolves.

Leeches are making a comeback. Wish spanking misbehaving children would.

And in this case, sometimes society devolves. Schools and education are overall doing much worse than in the past. One of the biggest changes is lack of discipline at home/at school. Taping is better than suspension. It didn't harm the kids and is temporary. Suspension without a permanent correction of the actual problem leads to expulsion.

Nice try dingdong. Spend a week in any school, even a good neighborhood, and tell me there aren't 20 kids you want to tape or paddle or such. Society has evolved to a worse place and we let kids get away with murder, sometimes literally.

I am a better man for being subjected to tough and "mean" teachers, the nice guys were mostly a complete waste of time. The "mean" teachers had a direct effect on my communication skills, English language, and manners, something that is clearly lacking today.
