Bicyclist passes 10 cars waiting at a red light. Light turns green. That cyclist is now getting passed up (again) by those 10 cars.
Instead of having 1 interaction with each vehicle, being the vehicles original pass, they now increase their interaction count to 3. The original pass. The red light. Then being passed again.
How is this getting away from the vehicles?
Because when the bicyclist runs the red light, there's at least the amount of time it takes for those cars to catch up to them that they're not surrounded by cars. It also makes a difference whether you're just stopped among a bunch of idling ICEs and whether you're actually moving and getting some relatively fresh air.
quote:
It makes far more sense, safety wise, for the cyclist to wait in line
I may be alone here, but I'm rarely out in the middle of the lane. I'm usually off to the side on the shoulder.
quote:
Bragging about the rate that cyclist break traffic laws
I'm not really bragging, but I can see how you would see it that way as you're frustrated that a guy on a bike is basically making the same time you are in a car.
Back when I lived in New Orleans and rode my bike from the River Bend to Common St., I would fly past the traffic on St. Charles and make better time. Unfortunately there was that one time the little old lady opened the door of her parked car right in front of me. The effect was to bounce me off the inside of her door, and make me face plant right in her lap. I'm not sure who was more surprised, her or me. But no harm done, we both had a nervous chuckle over it and went on our ways.
But yeah, I drive a truck, ride a motorcycle, ride a bike and frequently walk. I fricking hate everybody.

Douche bags ride 3 wide against the yellow line then yell and flip you off when you don’t give them 3 feet on a small roads with no shoulder.
Yes, douchebags sometimes do that. Douche bags also like to roll coal, crowd you, and even turn right in front of you after passing you. Douche bags do all kinds of douchey things in all kinds of vehicle and vessels. That's why they're called douche bags.
quote:
I’ll never understand how they have been allowed to keep using roadways for recreational purposes
Douche bags also think everyone on a bike is just recreating and not actually just trying to get somewhere.
Baton Rouge is one of the worst places to ride a bike because of all the douche bags that think if you're not in a car, you should just stay home.

I'm talking about the ones who dress up like they're in the Tour de France and take over a curvy state highway and make no effort to move to the side so the line of cars piled up behind can safely move by.
I don't road bike, but you're actually the one who sucks.

Cant agree more. These people are acting like they are trying to set new records for every route out there.
They are arrogant too about cycling.
When I hear about them getting hit or run over. I dont feel bad for them. Its seems like more dangerous than riding a motorcycle.

Welcome to the club! I yell out the window get out the road when the move out of that magical safe bike lane.

As long as they maintain the posted speed limit I have no issues with them.
Since that never happens frick them all. They are the worst.
A close friend has a diesel and loves to smoke them out whenever possible. It's practically a sport in MO.

I don't hate them, but they need to yield to traffic.

Metal spikes are not allowed on the grounds at Augusta National but I do wear them in my man cave while watching any one of the 4 majors... And sometimes the TPC. Sorry you aren't good enough of an athlete to play golf.

I'm sure every semi driver feels the same way about cars.
They indeed might, you would have to ask one I guess. Regardless, as it would be really dangerous, I make sure not to drive on roads they travel while driving ~20 mph in front of them hoping they don't run my slow arse over.
