Why was zombie even in there with him? 2 fights in the last 2 years

Pieced the frick up by Ortega in a loss, beat Ige, 1-1 in the last 2 years

Don't know who in the division is even a good match with Volk right now.

Holloway again?

Kattar? Who got his arse destroyed by Max?

Josh Emmett?

A guy like Bryce Mitchell? He seems way too green still for a title shot.

He's basically cleaned out the division right now.

Think it was a send off for the guy. Dana probably knew zombie was close to retiring and gave him an opportunity. The guy lost his prime serving in the army.

exactly.

he's now 8-7 in his last 15 fights

the biggest problem the UFC has is pushing a lot of these "stars" who's entrance theme song is better than their talent.

Zombie is washed up and has been for a very long time. he should have been fighting some double digit loss bum like BrokeBack Mountain Cowboy Ceronne tonight instead of a legit fighter like Alexander.

Holloway was scheduled for this fight but backed out due to injury so Zombie stepped in.

The division is trash, easily the weakest in the UFC and probably one of the weaker divisions at any moment in time in modern UFC history. It doesn’t help that they have a still-improving possible all time great champ with a really good team and training camp.

Bryce Mitchell is the only one in the division who can hang with Volk on the ground but his striking isn’t there and I don’t think his cardio would be either with that redneck workout BS he does. Max can strike with Volk but he’d get eaten alive on the ground. There’s just no one in that division that’s in the same galaxy as Volkanovski

Wonder if Volk considers dabbling in lightweight with nothing left in featherweight.

So many killers at lightweight though, is it worth losing your shine as I think he’d probably get his arse beat there

I don’t think he has really cleaned out the division

But with Volk and Holloway basically being 1a and 1b, Holloway ends up brutally exposing half of the contenders before they even get to Volk. I guess I’d watch Volk Yair if they don’t rebook the trilogy? Not loving it, but not dying by Holloway probably counts for something, and I doubt Yair is going to be active enough to fully build himself back up

Holloway won both those fights imo. The 2nd one was in no question. How they gave it to Volkanovsku was highway robbery.

Volk clearly won the first fight. Not one single media member scored it for Max.

LINK

2nd fight was a split decision and we know 9/10 times the champ retains (just like Frankie Edgar and Benson Henderson).

The biggest problem the UFC has is that their fans expect the stars to go undefeated and that’s damn near impossible…
