Cam Hayes

From NCSU. Don’t know much about him but at this point he just need bodies for MBB.

If anyone knows anything about him, feel free to chime in.

Looks like he’s a former top 100 prospect and PG.

Former 4 star PG, Top 100 in 2020 Class. Average about 7 pts per game as roll player. Good pick up!

A quick scan on KenPom shows that he was inefficient from the field (39% from 2, 25% from 3). Decent assist rate. No idea how good he is defensively.

I will say that NC State was kinda dysfunctional this year. Terrible record despite some NBA talent. Maybe that held him back?

NC St blog with a not glowing review

Basically say he's a SG but his shooting numbers were pretty bad

You hope he plays sg and can shoot better without the responsibility of running offense. Juice is your starting pg. he did shoot better as a freshman. So goal is to fix whatever issue he had last year.

Freshman highlights for Hayes:

With that team's dysfunction this past season, wonder if those players had more of a "screw it" attitude, and thus those numbers start to fall

Would have much preferred Bates, but maybe get them both. I mean we still have a ton of spots to fill

I’m sure we are trying to make them a pair. Went in home with both.

From the look of the blog above your post, the critics started to write him off in December of his sophomore year, which is pretty rough. Sure enough he was replaced in the starting lineup about that time.

Hayes plays quality defense.

Can't shoot a lick. Does handle it fairly well.

If he brings Bates with him that's a nice addition. Bates can do lots of things.

Did nothing this past season. Looks like he may have been injured early in gam e1 and missed the rest of the season. He di average 9 points and about 6 rebounds in 2021 so would be a nice addition.

Bates basically missed the whole season with injury. His absence was a big reason NC State's defense sucked this year. He's an all-conference caliber defender, and would give LSU our best rim protector since Kavell Bigby-Williams.

Don't mind him if he is coming off the bench. Needs bodies.

Hopefully he improves his offensive output signficantly
