Corporate social media takes are universally 100% soy. They are too scared of the mob to be anything else.

Behind closed doors, Phil Spencer is edging to no death elden ring feeds.

I almost always pick the toughest difficulty because I crave a good challenge

Some games are meant to be played that way and you’ll see the reason some game mechanics are included. Fallout 4 on survival mode for example

But the hardest gives you more achievements and that’s what I want

I mean most of the time the lowest difficulty makes it borderline impossible to lose.

I don’t sit around concerning myself with how people choose to play a game they purchased. I would tell anyone that this personally effects to seriously consider their life choices.

It’s absolutely ok to play a game on the easiest difficulty; no, that is not the same thing as beating the game. It’s like claiming you sent a climb after getting dragged up the cliff by your rope. You’re welcome to say you’ve stood at the summit; just don’t say you sent the climb. Feel free to say you’ve played, even finished, a game. But don’t say you beat it.

It's literally a video game.

There is literally no accomplishment in beating a fictional entertainment experience.

If you do, then you're life is either an empty mess, or you're mentally ill.

Disagree. It’s no different than completing a sudoku puzzle, or anything else. Running around bragging about beating a game is just as lame as bragging about finishing a crossword puzzle, but definitely less lame than lying about finishing a crossword puzzle after looking up the answers.

Depends on the game but typically I play on a very low level since I don't have a lot of time to invest into games. If it is a nice day out and I have some free time then I am going to take my boat out otherwise I'll try to pick up on where I left off in Cyperpunk or Gran Turismo.

To be honest, I kinda suck at video games. I really don’t pick up complicated modern games and instantly know how to win. I struggle, mightily, with basic stuff, and actually experience a great deal of anxiety around starting new games.

As a result, I really appreciate it when games, particularly RPG’s, have a difficulty slider that I can toggle during my play through. I can experience so much less stress and enjoy the story when I’m playing for the first time trying it out on low difficulty. Then, as I master the mechanics, I can scale it up. If I get stuck, I can scale back down to avoid having to spend too much time backtracking or grinding. When I first played F7 Remake, I played the first few chapters on the lowest difficulty, but by the end of the game, I was on the second highest difficulty. I followed a similar trend with Witcher 3.

Let’s be honest, life is stressful and unforgiving. It’s nice to come home and play games that are just…fun, pleasant, immersive, and an escape from stress rather than an addiction to it. Sometimes, I want to be challenged and pushed to my limits. Other times, I want to chill out. Sometimes, I need to vent and just want to dominate. Depends on the mood.

I think Halo is the only series I wanted to beat each game on Legendary.

Every other game I play nowm I just start on the default difficulty.

When I replay games to complete remaining side missions or go after achievments I am all up on easy. Example - Nier Automata was much more enjoyable on easy

Playing on easy modes is fine.

Needing validation for playing on easy mode is lame and gay as hell

most games i play on normal. its generally what the developers want you to experience.

sometimes i go up, very rarely down.

if it was meant to be punishing then it would be with no option.

i can also see a need for easy modes for people who want to experience the game but may be suffering some type of handicap.

This is why I like the concept of matchmaking, it (when it works) places you right where you need to be in terms of difficulty in competition. As to how many developers actually get that right, or close, is an entirely different beast.

The problem with AI, is that AI can be programmed to be completely useless, or 100% impossible. So devs make concessions to meet an idea of "easy", or "normal", or "hard" etc. Player skill however is all over the map.

Playing a game as intended by the developer is the best way to go imo.

Separate and apart from people with handicaps, reducing the difficulty is simply ok to do, for any reason whatsoever. As someone who firmly believes in games as an artistic storytelling medium, it’s perfectly legitimate for someone to decide that they either don’t like or don’t care about the gameplay, but still want to experience the story. It would truly be a shame for someone to miss out on the narratives from the great story driven games of the last couple of decades just because of the gameplay itself.
