We see these type of tales all the time involving alleged robberies and kidnappings.
The more elaborate the story, the higher probability it is a cover for losing money in drugs.
Ask yourself this, this guy was abducted at gunpoint by multiple people in an unfamiliar city, taken to a discrete deplorable location, held captive, and robbed of his money.nYet, he has chosen not to do everything possible to assist in identifying and apprehending his captors.
The smell test. This one doesn't come close to passing it.
