Why would anyone on here know that?
Just checking in to see what's been said, reported, or if anyone has any ideas as to what possible reason could explain it.
This isn't 1944 and Dresden. There's really no need to target a civilian building with artillery, is there? I'm not buying 'collateral damage' when clearly this was the Russian's target.

Sure there is. Nothing destroys morale like artillery bombardment. They’re trying to break Ukraine’s will to resist.
You’re also giving Russian artillery way too much credit. There’s no telling what they were aiming for.

have you never seen any western or war movie?
a high ground position is key to spy on what soldiers are doing and to call in attacks, its common sense to take out any elevated position that is being used by the enemy

For all you casuals and concernhags on the board.,,
It is absolutely legal in war to blow up anything that is housing anything legitimate to the war effort. A "lawyer" will compile intelligence on a target in case it is scrutinized at a later date. These militaries are prudent in their choices, no matter the media spin for or against, and won't just blow it up because a couple officers had to take a shite, even though that is enough justification.
We smoked several prominent mosques because of this the last 20 years.

When people are shooting at you from that building its a perfectly good reason to destroy it.
That's exactly what we did in ww2.
