We give our kids $20 for every A on their report card, but it has to go into their savings account. My FIL matches it, so really they get $40.

The OP said the deal was $1000 for all A's the entire year. If your kid made all A's for a year they would probably make something similar under their $40 an A set up.

This is really not as much as people are making it out to be if your kid busts their arse and makes straight A's for an entire school year.

$1000 isn't what it used to be when a lot of were kids.

It’d be about $1200 for the whole year, depending on their electives. Some electives aren’t included in the deal.

We started it as a way for them to build their savings and incentivize them to develop good study habits. It has worked in both regards. Son is a senior and has 2 full academic scholarship offers, and a couple more partial ones.
