If that's your team's M.O. we have much in common.

ISU is horrible offensively. Horrible. As in the lowest ranked major-conf. team in the tournament. LSU's offense certainly isn't "good" by any means. But for comparison's sake, the LSU offense is ranked 89th in efficiency. ISU's is 151! ISU has lost three straight games. In two of those the most they scored was 41 points.

This game has the potential of being a close, ugly rock fight that resembles a girl's HS basketball game in terms of scoring.

I agree, lot's of folks here had them pegged as a bad matchup for us if we were to play them, I totally disagree.

That's because people remember Wisconsin shutting down LSU...22 years ago! If you are a believer in the KenPom metrics Wisconsin is not an elite team. In fact, they are the lowest rated 3 seed by a huge margin. They are solid offensively and solid defensively...but not great at either. KenPom has them as the 9th "luckiest" team this year. That means they have played a ton of close games and won far more than the law of averages suggests they should.

Certainly, if I had to bet my house on the LSU/Wisconsin game I would not take LSU. Particularly in light of the circumstances. But if you are looking for the most "beatable" 3 seed, the numbers say Wisconsin is it.

Not at all, what's your problem guy - you got your wish, calm down.

There are matchups there that I would not as thrilled about. And I'd have no issue stating them, in fact I have plenty this year. Bias got nothing to do with it.

Defense travels

Hope our press leads to some takeaways and easy buckets in transition

How much do you press a team that stinks on offense? I don’t want to give them a few free buckets (or add up fouls on our back end guys) when they will struggle to score anyway.

I think it will depend on how we are doing on the offensive end ourselves. If we are having a game where Eason and Days are just torching them there wouldn't be a need to go full throttle on the press. If we need some easy buckets to supplement the scoring then the press should help with that

Im with you on that especially when we played teams like aggy and state and let them back in the game by pressing too much. I like coming out with it early and seeing if the other team can handle it. Think it helps get the guards going too.

Better enjoy this game(s) because this will be the last relevant mens basketball for a while.

We certainly could use a fast break layup or two to help our offense.

The other side of the evaluation is that Iowa St. is WORSE than LSU in terms of turnovers. We are talking close to Missouri and Georgia level bad with turnovers. So if you are LSU...and you know your offense can struggle...and you know Iowa St. turns the ball over a lot, do you try to extend your defense to force turnovers that lead to offense...thus keeping you from relying on half-court execution against a good defensive team? LSU pressed UGA and forced 22 turnovers. They pressed Missouri in the SEC Tournament, and forced 20 turnovers (the bigger problem was that LSU turned it over 19 times themselves).

LSU is going to pressure Iowa St. in an effort to force turnovers. Forcing turnovers is what LSU does best. The key will be deciding when to apply the gas and when to lay off. I think Wade continued to press Missouri last week because they had a very short bench and he figured a faster pace game would eventually wear them out. To their credit, Missouri didn't quit.

LSU has taken advantage of teams that turn the ball over a lot. It's the teams that don't that LSU has struggled with (Arkansas, Auburn). That doesn't bode well for the potential next matchup vs. Wisconsin (second in the nation in fewest turnovers). But there is no next game if they don't beat Iowa St.

Who knows? Maybe a veteran Colgate team, who can shoot it really well from deep goes on a heater and upsets Wisconsin. Colgate hung tough with Arkansas last season for 30 minutes

I see our athleticism advantage causing more turnovers and converting those into points. I think in the end that will be the difference in the game we'll cause more havoc defensively they IS does.

That was my take as well....there was a thread a week or so about the worst matchups for LSU and several listed Wisconsin, which surprised me. I think there are much worse matchups for us even by teams seeded lower.
