Sheriff Aaron Mitchell reports that Sabine Parish Sheriff Dispatch received a call around 3:30PM Saturday March 12th reporting two fishermen missing near Solan’s Camp on the north part of Toledo Bend Lake. According to the caller, the two went fishing the day before and never returned. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and Sabine Parish Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to begin searching. At approximately 8pm last night, a body was recovered. Wildlife Agents and Deputies are continuing the search today. Sheriff Mitchell extends his deepest sympathies and prayers to the families. This is the only information we have at this and will try to keep the public updated.

Don’t think the weather was bad, but I know it was windy as hell yesterday.

“Don’t think the weather was bad, but I know it was windy as hell yesterday.“

Well that would do it.

Thank you guys. I’m not really a hunter or fisher , but he taught my son everything he knew. My boy was there Pre fishing for a Saturday tournament and noticed his trailer was dry. Very hard on him.

It sad and should hurt all our sportsmen as these are preventable.

I lived on Toledo Bend for 2 years and still have a camp.

I know that lake can go from nice nice to a mean one at the turn of a light switch.

Sucks people drive a good ways to fish. Always a cove or area protected you can wet the boat and hang in to at least catch some fish.

The water is still really low right now from the dry winter, so the stumps are a big concern. The fishermen are flooding into the area, itching to get after it, in their fiberglass boats and trying to fish through some rough weather. Its a recipe for disaster.

I saw quite a few guys last weekend flying though the white caps in very low profile fiberglass bass boats. Not smart.
