I completed a mission that supported the Black Lives Matter movement. Can we get nice things without completely ruining it with political shite propaganda?

Video games have contained political statements since they started telling stories. You’re not objecting to political statements; you’re objecting to political statements you disagree with.

Bioshock is one of my all time favorite games, and its entire narrative premise is shitting on an absurd caricature of libertarians. You’ll survive a mural on a building.

Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. I don’t want Batman saving a couple Nigerian MAGA hat wearers on the snow covered streets of Gotham either

I wonder if BLM ever reported their income to the irs. Maybe spidey can figure that one out next time

This. There’s a difference between political themes/symbolism being present in the plot and found in interactions with characters etc., and just outright and blatantly putting that whack shite in the game.

To be clear, this is what we're clutching our pearls over, correct?

And is in line with the character/setting. It's a young black kid born in Brooklyn, written around the time Obama was elected, set in the present time. Black identity and empowerment are at the core of the character and story. Hell, the usual suspects derided the original character as "political correctness". I'm not sure how anyone who is at all familiar with the character could possibly justify clutching their pearls over a BLM in-game mural.

It's easy. some people are very emotionally sensitive and/or mentally weak. They'd rather bury their head in the sand than be exposed to anything they don't understand.

I don’t support a movement that is for one false statistically and does not support black lives. Name me one good thing the Black Lives Matter movement has done for black lives. I’ll hang up and listen.

It's a game, dude. Nobody is asking you to support BLM in person. You can play GTA and torture people, kill people, and all kinds of wild shite. That doesn't mean you enjoy it or support it irl.

It's shoehorned in, yes.. just do it and move on

Agreed but I also agree with people voicing their opinions on it. Video games have had messages before but the climate is different now. They need to lighten up on them and let people escape with their games right now

It's a bit cringe-y sure, but I would hardly call that one mission a game ruiner.

If people are playing a game to escape reality, they should choose a game that isn’t set in our reality in the present time. Which is easy, because the overwhelming majority of games aren’t. Comics aren’t my jam, but from what I gather, Miles Morales has always been topical. If there’s a BLM mural in Hyrule in BotW2, I’ll join the chorus. But objecting to one in this particular game? fricking stop. It’s 100% in line with the setting, timeline, and character. Next, people are going to whine about This War of Mine giving them the sads because of what’s happening with Russia.

From what I saw, there's the mural, a letter that says they're "happy to have a Spiderman who looks like us to protect us" or some other pandering nonsense like that because apparently Peter Parker only fought crimes in white neighborhoods and his legacy should be spit on, and even a BLM-inspired outfit that looks pretty cool but I'd never ever use because of the context. These are pretty game-ruining things for me.

I think you're just seeing what you want to see. If it were simply a passing moment it'd be one thing, but nah they have to give you a free outfit to remind you of what you should support every time you scroll through whatever costume you want to use that day.

Again, one of my all time favorite game's entire premise is shitting on my political philosophy. Accusing me of "seeing what [I] want to see" is fricking absurd. Motherfrickers are just soft
