Yes things would be drastically different.

Internationally, we'd have withdrawn from Iraq/Afghanistan quicker, so our debt would be trillions less for that reason alone.

I think that he would have also been sort of a Carter-esque ineffective leader b/c other than things he could directly control (like the military), his policies would not be supported by the big government types in DC.

I think his promotion of reducing government would also have sped up the woke/PC culture b/c it would be seen as an attack.

I think he'd win symbolic DEM support for the military withdrawals but it would be GOP voter suicide and he'd get demolished in 2012. May not even get the GOP nom.

I think he would work hard to roll back Patriot Act and domestic surveillance.

Would he be successful?

Would the intel agencies and their allies in the executive and legislative branches defeat him?
