Trump isn't libertarian nor conservative.
What happened is a bunch of pretend libertarians got fooled by Trump, now regret it.
Libertarians aren't trying to install a libertarian govt anymore. They are just trying to keep your type from destroying the country.

Libertarians never had a viable party. Just an “every four year wonder” that emerged from obscurity every 4 years to nominate somebody for Pres, beat their breasts, then fold back into futile obscurity after the election. Until next 4 years cycle. Rinse and repeat.

It's not just the LP. Libertarians used to say "Look, don't judge Libertarians by the LP, they're ridiculous". Now you have a lot of self-described Libertarians that are constantly going on about drugs and child-sex, all while cheering vax and mask mandates and throwing the word "Fascist" around a lot. About as un-old school Libertarian as you get. Yet they've become this meme:
