I’ve been with the same provider for several years and wanted to see how they stack up. Anyone recently went through multiple quotes and who was the cheapest?

Go with an insurance broker who can shop numerous companies for you and find you the best rate. I did this through Louisiana Insurance Network several years ago and they saved me a ton compared to what I was paying prior to that.

I just went through this and progressive direct was so cheap it was almost unbelievable. It’s their pricing through their website, not a agent

I've been with The Hartford for many years now through AARP after I turned 50 and on the advice of my brother-in-law, checked them out.
I wound up saving close to $1000 going with them over Liberty Mutual, my previous insurer.
Problem is, for most who post on this site, you have to be at least 50 to qualify for insurance through AARP. I also have my homeowner's insurance through them too and that yearly premium is cheaper than any I've gotten quoted by other companies.
Now for the problem I'm facing. Living in N.O. the insurance rates are stupid high due to all the idiots who drive around uninsured in their beater cars.
My sister and her husband, living in rural Mississippi pay over $1800 a year less than my wife and I do by living in N.O. and that will be rectified once my wife can retire and we sell the house and move.

^this. different carriers are cheaper for different things (think old homes vs new, old cars vs new, age of drivers, etc.). i have a mish mash of insurers and save a great deal over having all with say state farm or something.

I got the Bayou rate through State Farm

Rates for everyone will go up 10+% this year. Repair costs, frequency, and severity are all up. There are relatively few companies writing in Louisiana and you can probably shop most pretty easily. SF, Allstate, Geico, and Progressive. Then check with a big independent and they may have a few other options.

I have USAA that is about $150/month. Its high but has benefits like roadside assistance and towing included. Great customer service allows me to always pick up the phone and talk to a real person who speaks english.
