I think the play was for Pinson to drive. SC collapsed and he kicked it to an open Days. He just missed. Nothing wrong with that.
Gaines was terrible for every second I watched the game. He has the BB IQ of a marble. Yeah he can do some flashy good plays, but his bad plays override that. Sadly with Miller getting hurt we are stuck with Mr Hot Dog.

This is just a wierd team....you cannot trust this team!

Started too late. I learned in peewee basketball to start a last play at 13-13 seconds - that gives you a shot and a potential rebound (maybe even 2).
There was time for a rebound. South Carolina got it

None of our guys box out - as a matter of fact almost the whole team launches back to play defense as soon as the shot goes up.
You do know LSU won the rebounding battle today, right? By quite a bit actually

I was at the game. Pinson should have taken it to the goal or shot a pull up.

We got the low percentage look SC wanted us to get instead of a high percentage look in the paint.
You uneducated idiot.

Man what are you talking about.... the play you referenced we were tied. The play we ran tonight we were down by 1. You do not take the three when only a 2 is needed. The 3 is a low percentage shot. Also, you go inside with the chance of a foul which still leads to 2 free throws. And I do not care how confident Days is... look at his 3 point percentage over the last few games... that low percentage shot goes down even lower when it is a shooter whos made percentage has been declining not going up.
I said it in the game thread.... I like Will Wade. This was a horrible designed play at the wrong time. 15 seconds left down by 1 you give it to someone that gets to the basket and can draw fouls and ALSO MAKE HIS FREE THROWS.... that player was Eason. Period.

It’s the same play we ran when Waters beat Maryland.

Days and unfortunately he missed
All you guys do realize
FG% this season 44.2%
3 PT% 32.6%
Going down to the last shot this team has less than a 50% chance of winning the game.
Blaming the coach, educating fans, blaming the players changes nothing about that last play.
A player missed the shot and LSU lost. Now keep your eye on the ball and pull for them to advance in the playoffs.
This team is loaded with athletes and any given night can beat any team in the country.
Next season with a few offensive weapons and improved shooting from these guys and we may have a final 4 team

Simple answer. Have more than 1 guy make a cut to the basket. Drive but DON'T dish to a low percentage 3 point. This isn't rocket surgery.

He was in the play, he ran the pick and pop action on the screen for Pinson to start the play his man just went under and covered him. You people really have no clue what you’re watching.
Did we watch a different play? First it was Murray, Eason was on the low block for the entire play. Second it was a ghost screen not a pick and pop. Pick and pop would result in the screener staying at the top of the key.

If we were going to shoot a corner 3, it should’ve been to Wilkinson and use Days for the offensive rebound.

Wide open look from corner. You sir are the idiot.

OP is on the something and I'm not reading 3pgs to see if it was discussed.... so, OP, can you now educate us on how LSU has continually gone an excess 5min during games w/o scoring a basket? Or how they can continue to blow double digit leads?
Posted on 2/20/22 at 12:18 pm to BootupAstro
I understand the play he ran and the motion of what they were looking for. But any coach will teach the corner man to drop to help stop the high percentage drive for a low percentage 3. Hence it was a stupid play call and hence you don’t know half of what you think you know.

As a general rule I don’t love a 3 down 1. But if it is your senior, who had 18 points, was 57% from three on the day to that point, and who got a wide open look? I’m fine with that shot. The board would be calling Days a “legend” if he hit it. Bitch about a lot of the dumb things they did all game to leave SC in it. Not the final shot
This....Days was 4-7 from 3 for the game before that shot, including making a corner 3 earlier in the game. And it was a open look. Plenty to nitpick other than this. That play was for from the egregious travesty some are making it out to be.
