Billionaire Peter Thiel—one of Facebook’s earliest investors—plans to leave Meta’s board of directors, the company announced Monday, and plans to focus on influencing November’s midterm elections in favor of Trump-aligned candidates.

The only logical reason he'd do this is because he intends to take the whole verse down, and can't do it as a board member without getting taken to the cleaners with conflict of interest suits.

True, but he came into it as an outside investor. Perhaps he thought he could influence it and/or make some money?
He has a long track record of supporting various independents and people on the right, some good, some not so good. He was a big supporter of Ron Paul.
