I think thats great. But if Payton gets fined for caling out the refs, shouldn't the refs get fined for messing up calls?

Ed definitely couldn't see it , and obviously gun-shy for some reason this season, but shouldn't there have been a line judge in position to make that call?

Not according to Towelie. In his mind, there would be no way for guns to tell the difference b/t someone getting their facemask ripped or simply casually turning their head...

what do you idiots not get about the fact that Ed's job is to look for holding on the offensive line? Not facemasks, yes, if he sees one, he can call it, but how the hell is it his job to see that when the line judge has a much better view and didn't make the call? If Ed didn't make the call against San Diego that brought all the criticism, he wouldn't even be talked about regarding this call. You can say what you want about the others, but this one is ridiculous. Yes, the Peterson fumble explanation was horrible, and a pretty bad call, but this one isn't his.

True, but look at the angle in the picture. Ed's back and to the left, tackler is front and to the right. Players do stuff like that all the time because the know the ref can't see it. It happens.

I know, I know. But the refs knew this was a blown call. They could have made amends on Peterson's fumble, let Karney's hold slide, or threw a flag when Campbell got knocked semi-retarded.
