App for blocking spam texts?

I'm receiving an asinine amount of spam texts lately. Is there an app that is proficient at blocking them? (iphone)

check with your phone service provider. At&t has a call protect app, for example, that will filter spam calls and texts. I would guess all of the phone providers have similar apps.

What about when the texts come from email addresses? How can that be blocked?

Just called AT&T this morning as I was getting 20 texts a day from email addresses. They put a block on my account to not receive them anymore

My fiance is getting a ton of texts from random numbers and email addresses and also getting a ton of spam calls. She said she's about to change her number because it is getting way out of control. I'll tell her to call AT&T before changing her number.

not even funny but it was. Older people I won't say who fall for every con text. 
the texts will look like this
hi sam hill, tractor supply wants you to apply for work, click here
hi sam hill you won a $800 gift card click here
and Sam (not his real name) will say hey did you know tractor supply wants me to work for them and I won a free gift card?

So I was getting at least 20 spam texts a day, these texts would have like 20 people on there and then people would reply STOP, BLOCK AND REPORT, and then it would just go on and on for days on end.
Called AT&T, spoke to a nice English speaking woman and she said she had to put the block in on her end, took 2 minutes, BAM, no more spam texts!

I have never received a legitimate text from an email source. Gotta wonder why the carriers even allow this in the first place.
The new spam text of the future is the ones that can't be blocked. Got one the other day. Flash SMS. Same tech used for Amber alerts and such. Now the spammers are starting to use it. Can't disable it, carrier can't/won't block them. Even you Do Not Disturb feature is ignored when receiving those.
