re: Bills should have held/tackled every receiver in the last 13 seconds.

Chip Kelly did this a few years ago against the Saints at the end of the first half. They've since put in a rule to stop anyone from doing this too egregiously, but I think it doesn't kick in until you've done it twice in a row, so it may have been workable here. I'm not going to criticize a team for not being flagrantly unsportsmanlike though.

Harbaugh is the only one in the league that would try this.
He’s already done it. They were on offense though. And it worked.
The rule has been changed.
If two or more players commit a holding foul in the last two minutes the offense gets the yards plus they put the time back on the clock to when the play was started.

According to Ravens fans on Russell Street Report the league put in a rule to keep this from happening after the Ravens had like ten different holding calls on the same play while trying to close out a game several years ago. I haven't uncovered the specifics.

The Bills should have kicked an onside kick to start OT, Saints style.

I think maybe the Pats once did something like this.
The end of the Bucs game and the end of the Chiefs game both showed how much situational football is in the NFL and why Belichick harped on it so much and won so many championships and close games.
The stupidity of defensive coordinators and head coaches today on tbe losing teams, after the players gave everything they had, is inexcusable.

The clock would have likely run out in regulation play.

Romo said before the KO that need to kick it deep to the 5 yd line or squib it and openly cringed when Buffalo kidd it out of the EZ.
He also said the game was over and Buffalo won with 13 seconds left. So there's that.

Whatever you do you can’t just cede 20 yards to Hill in a straight line sprint on the first play. It’s not high school football. Butker is probably getting the Chiefs into OT if they get to the Buffalo 40 yard line. That’s 35 yards in 13 seconds with three timeouts.

The tackling receivers strategy would work once and then they would come out the next play with their receivers stacked and dust you with Hill.
It’s classic example of sounds great on paper, dumb in reality though.

They did it on offense. The offense held the other team and the game ended on that penalty

The problem with that is if they throw it deep and you’re holding it’s PI and a spot foul. That’s puts them in fg range

So the other option is Cover 9 or whatever, only rush 2 or whatever.
Let the Qb run. You can’t run 50 yards in 13 seconds against 9 guys in coverage.
I don’t know, there has to be some sort of better answers then multiple deep balls in a matter of minutes. Put 4 safeties out there and keep the passes under 20 yards.

You hold them at the line of scrimmage

I understand that’s the goal but a guy like Hill lines up off and you aren’t keeping him from getting down field.
Similar to how gunners on punts get down there. Can’t jam them up forever
