King of the Hill is the latest series to be getting a revival. Both Greg Daniels and Mike Judge have decided to form a new animation company called Bandera Entertainment has a bunch of series in development right now. But, none of them are bigger than King of the Hill. One of the earliest members of the now iconic FOX Animation block, Judge and Daniels led fans through years of weekly stories with the Hill family. Of course, adult swim's programming block also ended up helping the show reach an entirely new generation of viewers. That continued life in syndication is a huge reason why we're here now.

In some comments to The Hollywood Reporter, Daniels said that they wanted in on the animation renaissance going on right now.

"We were very excited to go into different tones and different styles and try to expand the animation art form," Daniels explained. "We're in a golden age for content, right? That's animation, too. That was one of the things we were talking about in founding the company: "Let's push animation into all these different genres."

"Mostly what Bandera is doing is trying to get us in more of a supervisory goal; that's what we've been really concentrating on: using our taste and the people we've worked with and trying to help other people achieve their visions that we think are cool," Daniels mentioned before Judge chimed-in, "There's one show that I might be a co-creator of but the rest, it's mentoring other people and getting people together and being a studio in that regard."

"I'm running some shows that I created and that's very much a full, intense thing," Daniels added. "Then I love that over here, I'm getting to do stuff and having different experiences, different ideas, working with different people, but it's more reactive and it isn't quite as like pulling out pieces of your yourself. It's more like, 'Oh, cool, I have stuff to say about this.' And yet the end of the day, Dustin and [Bandera director of development] Jacey Naccarella are going to be staying up, getting it accomplished after we've kind of wound them up."

Depends on how they handle it. If it turns into another lazy excuse to make conservatives look like raging idiots 24/7 I'll be irritated. If it handles it like it did 20 years ago, it'll be awesome.

It'll be funny seeing how old they choose to make Good Hank.

I'm not a conservative, so no I don't care what idiot politicians do. The entire beauty of King of the Hill was you saw the good and bad of the traditional conservative. Ironically, the Goode Family failed because it went a bit over the top, and I'm concerned they may do the same thing again.

But please, continue going for shitty one liners, it's really helped this thread out.

The entire ethos of King of the Hill was to turn the Homer Simpson Is An Idiot paradigm on its head by making the conservative patriarch the sensible hero of the series (while also poking fun at the conspiracy theorist, survivalist nitwits like Dale Gribble).

And Mike Judge, while not conservative or even really libertarian, is also not very pinko liberal either.

I doubt it will be a big conservative bashing show if Judge is involved.

I always thought it was fascinating that King of the Hill was an animated show that didn’t need to be one.

None of the characters do any cartoon like antics, nobody’s defying gravity or pulling dynamite off screen or anything.

That's one of the things that made it great. I still say it was the greatest sitcom of the late 90's, early 00's.

Technically, the same is true for The Simpsons (at least as originally intended).

The “must obey the laws of physics” rule for The Simpsons was so ingrained that they had to send back an entire episode (the season 1 episode with the criminal babysitter, I think it’s called “Some Enchanted Evening”) because characters and the environment warped and stretched like rubber (for example, when a door slammed).

The episode was delayed as it had to be entirely re-drawn. It went from being intended to be the first episode after the Christmas special to the very last episode of Season 1.

The show wasn't about conservatives, it was about Texans. Hanks dog was named Ladybird and he loved LBJ the same as he loved GWB (until the handshake lol).
