Just wanted to follow up post-passport appointment in NOLA.
Ended up getting the passport in one day. However, plan to allocate the entire day away from work. Appointment was @9:00AM. Driving from Baton Rouge, expect massive traffic in NOLA. Show up with all the required documents in an organized folder. Wait for ~30 minutes in line at the very DMV-like office. Present documents, get waiting number, wait for another ~30 minutes, get called up, sign forms, pay bill. You'll then be asked to return to the office after 2:30PM. It was too risky to drive back to BR for a couple hours of work. I returned to the office at 2:30PM and was called by the lady at the desk to get my fresh new passport at 3:15PM.
It all happens in one day but, like I said, plan to spend the entire day in NOLA.
Thanks again for all the input. I was as prepared as I could have been. Hopefully this thread helps someone else down the road if searched

Anyone ever gone to a passport agency appointment? I'm wondering if they print your passport while you're there so you can walk out with it.
yes. i've gotten them printed in both dallas and houston with proof of travel within 6 weeks or thereabouts.

I've done that for work before because we can't do the normal wait time to get it renewed, we get it the same day but if they say it won't be ready until...whatever time, that's when you're getting it, doesn't matter if you/re the only person in the building trying to get a renewal

Uh.. maybe i missed it, but you didn’t mention a thing about cost .. I mean, in addition to what you would normally pay to get a (non-expedited) passport renewal.. What was the premium they charged you for same day ?
